The birthi falls is in perfect location between chaukori and munsiari. We stopped for lunch while going to munsiary and breakfast while returning. Great location to spend half an hour. Lots of birds. Kmvn is a great choice for food.

This water fall, around 35 kilometres before Munsiyari, is visible right from the main road. A TRH (KMVN) is located right on the road near the water fall. The approach towards the water fall is from two sides. One is from near a culvert just before the TRH and the other is from a place adjacent to TRH immediately after it. From both sides the fall is around half a kilometer climb. It is not a populated place as few people visit it. Though not an excellent location, but still it should not be given a miss as this is the highest water fall on the way and is a nice break while on way to Munsiyari.

Since we stayed at KMVN, Birthi, just opposite to the waterfall, we chose to explore this cascade on the last day. A marked paved trail from KMVN Birthi takes one to the foot of the waterfall...it is hardly a 10 mins walk. If one does not want to get into waters, just stay where the path ends, click stunning pics, have maggi and tea at the shack and return back in half an hour.
However, if the intent is to get into water, one needs to walk carefully on the broken stone stairs where the marked path ends, and climb on big rocks... the last stone on which water falls from the top is very slippery. Be extremely careful while stepping on it... moreover, water is freezing cold.
The fall provides a stunning back drop for pics and the view of bridge on the road is excellent too from the falls... overall, a nice place to spend some good time.

Birthi fall is nearly 30 KM away from munsyari and an attractive place to visit. It is surrounded by lush greens of Himalaya, falling from an elevation of about 130 mt. and fed by river water. Till now the place has not received commercial attention and a bit secluded. Staying at the KMVN rest house situated nearby affords one a wonderful experience of picturesque landscape.

On way to munsyari Birthy Falls is a natural refreshing beauty created by nature to relax for some time
From main road the falls are visible some 5 kms prior to actual site of falls..but to have a close feel one has to scale around 70 stairs up from from main Thal- Munsyari road..barricades are there to see the water fall resting your arms there on...
A small park with seasonal flowers too is there to relax for a while amid cold breeze
Don't miss the chance
Enjoy !!

This place is enroute from Chaukori to Munsiyari. We stopped at this place before Munsiyari. First you get a view of the falls from a distance, as you come nearer you can see how beautiful it is. There is a KMVN TRH at this place, where you can take a break and have tea and pakora. If you want to go near the falls where it is falling over the stones, you have to climb up stairs for some distance, which starts from the TRH and when we reached there, it was really awesome. It is a must visit place if you are going to Munsiyari, though it is not far from Chaukori also. It is possible to go from Chaukori, visit the place and come back to Chaukori on the same day. Posting the pics here

Hello !
I do not know if you are a solo traveller or a group. If you are single, you can tour Nainital,Ranikhet,Kausani , Almora by Inter state bus service from Bareilly. But as you want to tour Choukari, Munsyari along with other places, it is better to book a car . Time will be saved but at the cost of Rs.2500/ per night inclusive of all either from Lalkaun or Kathgodam or Haldwani.
I may suggest an itinerary as under -
Start from Moradabad Rly Station to Ramnagar (86km), stay 2N at KMVN TRH ( Rs.1250/ per night ) for Corbett Tiger Reserve.
3d day stay 1N at Ranikhet/ 4th day at Kausani / 5th night at Chaukori / 6 & 7 th night at Munsyari / 8th & 9 th night at Almora via Jageswar for Binsar & Dinapani. 10& 11th night at Nainital to cover all the lakes near Nainital & the worth seeing places. From Nainital to avail your train for your destination via Kathgodam, Haldwani or Lalkaun.
You may customise as you feel.
On the way to Munsyari you can go via Baijnath, Bageswar, Birthi Falls - all are on the route. It is better to book all the tourist spots for staying at KMVN TRH. One thing just check the weather / climate in December end. Munsyari will very cold. But the Peaks from Kausani, Munsyari are awesome. Hope this will help you . Wish you a happy journey & safe return.

Hi. We just stopped by twice en route Munsiyari for the Parathas, which were excellent. The staff was friendly and guided us to the falls. Cannot comment on the rooms as we did not stay there. However there is nothing else to do there except see the falls.
