Symbol of India's Cultural & Spiritual Existence
This temple needs no introduction and represents the Spiritual Resistance, India has been through. Personally, there is something about the temple which is unexplainable The temple is grandeur and large with top notch cleanliness. The entrance itself (Digvijay Dwar) is eye catching and marvellous. For Senior Citizens, there is a wheel chair facility (only draw back is you have to push it through). There is a go cart facility for all (ideally it should be exclusively for senior citizens or persons with disabilities) and a lift facility as well. No electronic gadgets are allowed, so better to keep it in vehicle or hotel. Went around 11 on a weekday (not Monday), so found it to be less crowded. Don't miss the platform on which once a Parvati Temple stood, on the backside of the main temple. Do visit after sunset to see the temple and its beauty under lights. Did not see the light and sound show.

    Excellent Place, Worth to Visit.
It is the Best ever place to visit among 12 Jyotirlinga. Management of the organization is perfect. Place is extremely clean and well maintained. There is a quality prasad distributed at very nominal charge. There are lot of stores nearby selling varieties of snacks and sweets. There are ample amount of lodges and hotels to stay there with a medium to good quality of services. There is also one ancient stone kept near to Temple Border, which is pointing to a direction which directly leads you to Antartica. Ancient inscription is also embedded on that stone. This place is worth to visit.

    Must visit !!
Absolute must visit if one is in or around Somnath. Well planned and organized. Separate kiosks for mobile / footwear storage. Darshan was done in an orderly fashion, no pushing or shoving. Be prepared with some cash for prasad/ offerings inside the temple Outside, the views of the Arabian Sea are mesmerizing.

    Historic Temple
This is the temple which was plundered by sultan Mahmud od of Ghazani 17 times in 11 century .It is one o the 12 Jyotirlinga and is on the top of the list .Currently there are two temples of Somnath one is old one and another is new one . We visited the old one in the evening . hardly any visitor . We had darshan and was able to touch the Linga .After that we walked out and visited new one . It is huge one and over ceowded. We stood in the queue and slowly moving towards main temple .It is highly decorated with gold . after standing in the line we we had darshan for only 10 seconds The complex is huge one . On the exit one can enjoy the fresh air of Arabian sea . There are shops out side . In the day light there are photographer who helps the visitor to take photograph .As usual like many temples cell phone is prohibited inside .

A well maintained and organised temple in India
This is a historic temple. The 1st jyotirlinga in the list of 12 Jyotirlingas. the temple is open throughout the day from 0600 to 2130 hrs. The pooja happens 3 times in a day. 0700, 1200 and 1900 Hrs. There are well organised free kiosks for depositing your valuables. There is a separate kiosk for keeping your footwears. Inside the temple, there are many outlets which offer different prasad at different rates. In the evening there is a sound and light show at 2000 Hrs, which is a 1 Hour show. The tickets are available from 1830 Hrs. Each ticket is of Rs. 30/- The temple is well maintained and very clean. The temple, has many rest rooms run by the temple trust, which can be booked online or on the counter as per availability. Ample space is available for car parking near the temple. The temple trust also runs a bus service at 0800 and 1500 Hrs, which takes the pilgrims to the other important temples around the area. The seats are limited, and are on first come first basis. There is no online booking, so it is advised to reach before time and reserve your seat.

Incredible architecture and location. We are fortunate that I have visited Somnath temple with family. I will say, It is one of India's temple wonder. Best time to visit Somnath is November to February month. I visited in May month so it was hot but in early morning it's good to visit temple. My personal experience I am saying take one hardcopy of photograph in temple, this wil be your long-lasting memory.

Mesmerised!!
Beautiful temple located near the sea!

The Jyotirling of Somnath

It’s a beautiful and powerful temple located in the town of Somnath. We visited there on 16th April 2023. It’s a special visit because it’s my son’s birthday and we had been there to seek his blessings.

Although either Indian Defence Minister was visiting or the Chief Minister of Gujarat.. during the same time as our visit it didn’t affect anything in our visit. Temple authority handled it smoothly and nothing stopped during the VVIP visit.

All walking pathways to the temple were carpeted so that the devotees/ visitors legs don’t burn. Arrangements are made to store mobile phones and shoes properly.

It’sa walking queue and Darshan happen within maximum 2-3 minutes of entering the main temple premises. No pushing!

Overall a beautiful visit. Thank you to lord Shiva for his blessings.
