Old monastery has a different aura altogether, you can just come here anytime and sit benches are placed at various corners. There are many Gompa and Stupas in the complex and it's a photographers paradise. We personally decided to capture milky way from there observe night sky.
Tabo caves can also be seen and photographed from the campus.

This temple complex was established in 996AD and is the oldest functioning Buddhist monument. This is a Centre of Buddhist philosophy. On the cliff face above the monastery are a series of caves which were used as dwelling units by the monks. To reach the caves you need to trek for half an hour. The view of tabo from the top is a site to behold.

Tabo Monastery, also known as the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas,' is one of the most popular monasteries in the Lahaul and Spiti Valley and was founded more than a millennium back in 996 A.D. This ancient structure stands on the barren, cold, and rocky desert of the Tabo valley at a dizzying height of 3050 meters above sea level. This untouched beauty has preserved the glorious heritage, traditions, and culture of Buddhism through the passage of centuries.

This monastery is in Spiti Valley when you go to Kaza via kinnaur.

this is very very old monastery and its exterior is made of mud and there are temples inside it and various sculptures are engraved there which will even surprise you but the atmosphere inside the temples is so peaceful that one can sit and speak to inner soul and even can feel his her own heartbeat .
Wrong powers are also cured here by lamas living in there .

Overall Must Visit Place ,....,..,.,.,.,.,.,..,.

This gompa provides such a huge treasure of Buddhist culture and ancient art..which is unparellal anywhere in the world. One can only feel it and difficult to express in words. Lahaul and Spiti valley is really enriched with such monasteries and gompas.

This place is a must visit for anyone with anything to do with Buddhism or even Indian heritage. This temple is very special and it's like holy grail of Buddhism.
There are a number of idols of Buddha's disciples handing all around on the walls with very intriguing faces.
The whole ceiling and walls of the temple are covered with murals. This is probably the only Buddhist temple where you find such ancient artwork.
And because of that, it is protected from all external lights.
The only source of light inside the temple is sunlight coming through a gap in the center of the temple. Therefore, the best time to visit the temple is around 10 to 2 in the day when maximum sunlight is available, otherwise the temple is very dark.

This place has amazing and ancient murals related to Buddhism which make you wonder how they must be made given their intricate designs and amazing colors. A small torch can be handy here since there is very less light.
