About
At the time of creation, the Victoria Golf Course was hailed as the most ambitious golf project Portugal had ever witnessed. Designed by true golfing legend, Arnold Palmer, there is absolutely no doubt that it has lived up to that lofty billing. Covering some 90 hectares, the venue encompasses one of the most complete golf complexes in Europe, and features an exceptional driving range and a putting green of some 2,500 m2. All of this has made it the obvious venue of choice for many of the top international tournaments to visit Portugal in recent times. Indeed, it has served as the host venue to the Portugal Masters on every occasion since 2007, while the World Cup Championship was staged there in 2005. The Par-72 Championship layout, measuring 6.651 meters (7,273 yards) from the Palmer tees, incorporates and has ensured the preservation of natural wetlands on-site, as well as the typical vegetation of carob, olive and almond trees. A significant proportion of Victoria’s acreage is o

Dom Pedro Victoria Golf is well known; expensive and (March 2020) in unacceptably poor condition. It is a travesty that they continue to charge premium green fees (€165 & €50 per buggy) for a very inferior product. Any customer service nous would have led to BIG discounts off normal rates AND big apologies. Lovely staff but a massive disappointment overall. I doubt we will be back.

The Victoria is a fabulous layout with a lovely clubhouse and practice area.
As we live in Vale do Lobo we try and get over to the Vilamoura courses a few times a year and we chose today for our family trip.
The course was in its usual immaculate condition and the greens were rolling nicely if a little slow.
The experience was however completely spoiled by a group of 5 Portuguese golfers in the group ahead of us. They clearly had not shown a handicap certificate as not one of them could hit the ball in the air or further than 50 yards. No problem for us as long as they let us through. After playing the 4th hole we politely asked if we could play through and they said no. We then asked the ranger to ask them to speed up and they did for 3 holes.
We got through 9 holes in 2 hours 15 minutes which may seem ok to some but we had deliberately booked an early time to get round in under 4 hours and preferably in 3 and a half hours.
On the 11th tee we had the ranger with us and the group in front. They drove their buggy onto the ladies tee and he said nothing to them. We explained that they had no idea what they were doing and that they should let us through.
This is where our biggest issue came as the ranger simply said 'they have played 9 holes in 2hours and 15 and so they are fine'. He didn't care that they were slowing hacking up the tees with huge divots, driving buggies through tees and the fringes around the greens.
Everyone plays a different speeds which is fine if the simple task of letting through people is applied. The ranger was frankly very rude and in all honesty just no good at his job which is to ensure people behove properly and play at a decent pace - he did neither.
A shame as what should have been a lovely morning ended up with us skipping the 11th hole and still taking 4 hours 15 minutes. The group we drove past were on the 18th tee as we drove out at 1.10pm having started at 8.40am.......

Course was about as poor as I have seen, scruffy of the fairways, a lot of money for a below par course, compared to last year was in a state.
Guys get a grip 2020 obviously impacted by what’s happening with Coronavirus, to get us back next you will need to improve as business and opportunities will be plentiful. The layout is fantastic don’t ruin it

Dear MrLeechristian1968,
Firstly let me thank you for choosing Dom Pedro Victoria for your golfing holidays.
Please note that we are in process to change all grass on course from Lollium to Bermuda, this was a 2 year that will finish this summer, the main goal in to be more sustainable and reduce the water consumption.
Sorry to know we did not full fill your expectations,
best regards and keep safe,
Romeu Gonçalves

Absolute fantastic long challenging friendly golf course. Nice club shop modern buggy with digital gps Course layout. The screen shows yardage/meters, tells you when speeding or driving too close to the greens. The pace of play was great . Condition all round great , I’m a steady golfer and found the greens excellent to putt on . It was expensive but you have to pay for quality and it certainly was.

This golf course is stunning. Lovely features and a really testing course. Game head has to be on or will find yourself in trouble. Superb maintained and very nice clubhouse. Rated the number 1 of the 4 we played without doubt.

The course is apparently about to close for major refurbishment and some redesign so let me start by saying that it isn't currently in the best 'cosmetic' condition. That said, this remains an excellent course. Tees, fairways and greens were all perfectly fine, even if it looks a little rough around the edges.
I'd happily play here anytime, and would thoroughly recommend a visit. If you play well, you'll score well. If not, you won't. That's how a good course should be. I hope the design changes retain the majority of the current set-up. It would be a mistake to change this challenging, but very enjoyable course.

Me and my partner called to the cafe / bar at this golf course yesterday 7th June at lunchtime 1.30pm to be precise.
There were only four people in the entire place, we are staying at the Tivoli Victoria hotel next door and told it was good for lunch.
We walked to the bar myself in casual shorts and Polo shirt my partner was wearing a smart crocheted dress with swim wear underneath. Immediately we asked for a menu the old man started shouting and pointing at my partner 'not here' then 'dress'..? He completely disapproved of her dress for whatever reason and told us to leave.
We have come to Vilamoura with a view to purchasing a property and was interested to see one on this golf course before we met this insensitive old man... So the resort didn't only lose custom for the restaurant but also the sale of an expensive property.
If your in business make sure you don't have anyone like this working for you.. I have enclosed a pic of my partner so you decide if this is not acceptable lunch time dress code for a cafe !!

Golf during our break was not on the cards, so it was a last minute decision and we picked the Victoria golf course to play. On arrival it was clear it was a very impressive place and i was very excited.
We hired clubs & buggies and went out to the course. We stupidly forgot golf balls and gloves, so before heading out we had to jump back into the pro shop. We asked for 2 dozen golf balls, Pro V's, but do you think the lady behind the counter add them up. £16.50 x 4 x 2 lots. It took a very heated discussion to tell the lady she was wrong. Which resulted in us being late for the first T. She then rudely took a phone call whilst we were mid conversation, saying we were not as important as the person calling. Please don't have this women serving in your pro-shop. its not the first impression your course needs, especially with the Portuguese Masters being there in October.!!
Once we were out on the course though it was great fun. We had a very good round, the clubs we hired were very good also.

Visited with 3 friends on a five day golf break and played here first. This was the worst experince of the five courses played. I thought that the layout of the course was very good, although the condition was not great for the 90 Euro's we paid, (twilight rate). Buggy was another 40 Euro.
We were not actually aware that this was a twilight deal. We were teeing off at 15:50 and were told that shuttles back to our hotel finished at 19:30. Whatever, we had to have buggy back for 20:00. Course seemed busy and we wanted to experience the full 18 holes, so asked the golf reception staff to book a taxi for us. They flatly refused and said we would have to do this ourselves. They would not even provide a number. We had a quick beer and bought a baguette to take with us and the staff in the bar/restaurant were not a lot more helpful. I don't know if they'd had a long day, but this was the worst level of service that we received during our 5 day stay.
There are plenty of other courses in the area and I doubt that I will play here again.

Played in May 2017 on a day with some stiff breeze and the course can be dauntingly long on hols in to the wind if you are not long off the tee. Course in good condition, greens at medium/quick pace. To be honest you may play Victoria only once just to say you have played it, but in my mind it is always worth a look

Hi, does anyone have info or can point me in the direction of info on green fee cost for 9 holes at Twilight for Victoria course? I know they do it but can't find a price anywhere. We're going in May and playing all other courses at Dom Pedro. Thanks, Ali
