Every time of the day or time of the year, this place presents a unique beauty. It's a large area with artificial wetlands and walking and biking paths around it. There are two parking stops on the Leidschendam side of of the area. The area is also connected to the Zuider park through a nice winding bridge. You can enjoy a very pleasant morning alone and watch birds, you can also bike around or bring friends or family members for a long walk or for roller skating. If you are nature-lover, this is a nice place to visit.

These windmills are dated back to the 17th century, originally there were four of them but the fourth one got demolished around 200 years ago.
One of the three remaining windmills burned down beg 20th century as a result of lightning stroke, luckily, it has been restored.
Nowadays, well renovated and restored these three mills are inhabited thus are not open to the public. Nevertheless-beautiful, unique, non tourist hidden gem, worth admiration while biking or hiking.

Very nice and quiet area, outside of city noise and traffic. 5 min drive or cycling from Leidschendam. You can make nice photos and see interesting birds.

We visited on a Monday in September and had the place to ourselves. It is so beautiful and serene. The three windmills look like a post card and it is so special to have them all to yourself!!

I was looking to visit Wind Mills and the nearest to Den Haag and doing some research we found 3 located close by.
It is in a small village called Stompwijk. You see them from the highway and as you reach this town you need to drive further to reach the place.
Its very serene looks beautiful and I would recommend must visit.

Maybe I shouldn't be writing about this windmill combination. Maybe it should stay a hidden gem. But, it is very pretty and oh so quite....:)

Gosh, these three windmills were hard to find. However,it was rewarding to get photos of an unspoiled Dutch polder landscape. It was not far from Stompwijk and you will see cyclists trying to find them too. They were built in 1672.
