This is a pleasant 5-minute stop, with a large wall graphic nearby showing the course of the Danube. The spring itself is not the real source of the Danube, of course I wish there had been an explanation of who built the enclosure, when, and...More

We only had a very quick visit before going back to the station but it was lovely and peaceful. It appears to be some form of underground spring, fascination to watch the bubbles floating to the surface.

Allegedly the origin of the Danube, not much to see, the little water produced by the spring runs underground below the garden of the castle into the river Brigach which then unites with the river Breg. The real origin probably is in the Black Forest....More

Well, this is only a place designated by Tiberius to be the origin of the longest river in Europe. We researched and found the actual spring about 40 kilometers away in Furwangen. A week wonderful spot in the Black Forest.

Charming landmark in beautiful surroundings. A worthy celebration of the starting point of a mythical river, so important to Europe and its history. Surrounded by a beautiful church and stylish park.

We went here to see the origin of the Danube, which turns out to not be the origin of the Danube:-) We walked around, clean, organised. The city is very clean, we sat in a coffee shop, enjoyed the sunlight. If you have nothing to...More

Though it is not a source of water dorectly from the mountains (that one is higher in Germany), the well is really nice and interesting to see as a part of the geographical culture. There is also an elevator to it (I believe 2 floors)....More

Throw a coin in the basin, and se what it will bring you. The source is framed by a nice balustrade and statues, it lies between the Schloss Fürstenberg with the lovely "royal" park and the great baroque cathedral
