A sports arena to accommodate up to 30,000 people, the Roman Circus would have been the venue of chariot races and even naval games.

Amazing to see this place plus the Aquaduct that runs nearby. Also amazing to see the damage done when they cut out a section to lay the Madrid to Lisbon road through it in 1862. Really made my day and all part of the see...More

The old Roman circus is about a 25 minute walk from the old town centre. It is slightly disappointing because not much of the original structure remains but there are commentaries and interesting explanations in English (and Spanish) which improves the experience.

Can just imagine the chariots racing around this track, it is vast amount of space, there is a short video before the viewing platform, maybe a bit boring for younger kids.

Interesting hat this site has survived all the years. There is not a lot to se now but going up into the observation platform one can imagine the races taking place in this arena. Worth a short visit.

So impressive & walked the entire Crocus with signage in English. Then to get to the Visitor Centre and find in their little museum nil in English and again the short DVD ONLY IN SPANISH. This is nonsense as even at the Semana Santa Museum...More

From the viewpoint above the reception centre you can see the sheer size of the site. Imagine the chariots being released from the traps to the right and then staging to get to the line and then crashing down the track to the 180 curve...More

It's included in your 15 euro ticket so it's worth the walk to see. Not spectacular but with virtually no crowds it's a nice stroll and there's good english signs as well as Spanish.
