The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art Foundation, in Jerez de la Frontera, is famous all over the world for its show called "How the Andalusian Horses Dance", a unique exhibition of horsemanship which both exhibits and summarises the work which the institution has carried out since its establishment.

Although the show "How the Andalusian Horses Dance" may be considered the highest attainment of the School's work, there are other aspects which are regarded as equally, or even more important, for the Institution. Among these, we would like to highlight its role as a social and cultural vehicle for our equestrian heritage, the selection and promotion of horses, the training of Haute Ecole riders, the preservation and promotion of Classical and Country Dressage (Doma Vaquera), maintaining the prestige of our horsemanship, the breed of our Spanish horses, our traditions and culture. Furthermore, the show enables the Royal School to play host for the Province of Cadiz and to act as ambassadors abroad on annual tours to various foreign countries.

In addition to the show, you might enjoy a visit to our training facilities as well as the Museum of Equestrian Art and the Carriage Museum.

Excellent show

We took a day trip and hit the highlights in town. The horse show is mentioned in most of the tourist info. To our surprise, it is the best part of the trip.

Disappointed that no photographs are allowed. Highlights.. the display by the gentlemen riding with their ladies wearing flamenco dresses sat behind. Beautiful and unique. A lovely choreographed routine. There followed two carriages filled the same ladies and their frothy dresses. Pulled by a team of four and a team of five. You didn't want to miss a second of this... Elegant estate with traditional demonstration arena. The horses and riders are immaculately turned out. They demonstrate the varying stages of training and degrees of difficulty. A must see in Jerez.

We were lucky enough to be in Jerez on one of the 2 days a week that the Fundacion has a show. My wife and I found it very emotional experience watching these amazing, and beautifully cared for animals going through their paces with such skilled horsemen and women. The stadium seats are quite comfortable and all provide an excellent... More

I've read a lot of previous reviews, so this is an objective view from a non 'horsey' person. Watched for 45 mins or so before the main show in the main auditorium. Several riders trotting around in controlled conditions in the boiling sun. Not ideal, I felt for the poor animals who were sweating prefusley, but others around were well... More

I have seen this show four times over the years when in Spain and enjoyed it each and every time. An extremely well run organization. One can see the horses being 'schooled' and trained before the show in the various arenas. One can visit the saddlery and see the enormous work that goes into making a saddle. The museum is... More

Definitely worth seeing, even if you are not particularly interested in horses. It is a great performance with the horses and Spanish music brought together brilliantly. The house and saddlery are also very much worth a visit, so allow time before or after the show. Essential to book ahead and tickets are then collected from the ticket office. The venue... More

This show was brilliant! I took our 3 year old daughter and she loved it too. Even as non horse people we found it fascinating.
