The memorial sits on top of the hill just out of Villers- Bretonneux. We went the day before the Dawn service. It was very quiet and a great time for reflection and understanding. It is so well manicured and maintained this is a credit to...More

Visited on a cold rainy day to view the sacrifice made by so many. Certainly a necessary pilgrimage for any Aussie.

I was absolutely awed by the size of this cemetery. The number of battle deaths here was incredible. This memorial does a great job of commemorating Australia's participation in the great war and is being expanded in 2018 with the establishment of the Monash Center....More

Quite a large cemetery with a huge monument, and tower, at the far end. Mostly Australian soldiers, but also a number of soldiers from other nations as well. The bullet marks from when the Nazi's stormed through here are also evident.

A fitting tribute to soldiers of the Great War. This Cemetery is undergoing building work at the moment. This is to provide an interactive museum. However it is still worth visiting, as the graves of the fallen can still be viewed. You can still climb...More

Unfortunately the Memorial is currently blighted by building works. This means that the walkway / cycleway from Villers-Bretonneux town does not access the memorial... quite annoying on a hot day. I will send It seems this will be the case until 2018. Other than that,...More
