About
The Château de Chantilly is one of the finest jewels in the crown of France’s cultural heritage. It is the work of a man with an extraordinary destiny: Henri d’Orléans, Duke of Aumale, son of the last King of France, Louis-Philippe. This prince, who is considered to be the greatest collector of his time, made Chantilly the showcase for his countless masterpieces and precious manuscripts.

Worth the detour to discover the castle and the collections of the Duke of Aumale.
Very nice visit. Well-maintained furnished castle. Park and gardens to see. Many objects to discover in all areas. Splendid collection of paintings. Stables and horse museum to discover. On the other hand, there is a lack of signs in the gardens to guide you and orient yourself. Parking located far from the entrance to the castle and paying. Plan a full day’s visit at least.

    A castle of collections
Far too many people spoil the visit! A very beautiful castle despite everything Above all, don't forget the private apartments of the Duke of Aumale, a guided tour generously given by a pleasant and very professional guide.

    A jewel you must visit!
It is a beautiful castle/chateau, with a beautiful art gallery and gardens. Parking is easy, but with some distance to the castle. The restaurant is also fine, not really cheap, but very good. Friendly service too, even got an expresso on the house. An attraction that you should not miss!

Enchanted by so much magnificence we stayed 6 hours to turn and turn around the rooms full of works of art to leave you speechless. The gardens then are immense and well kept, even lunch at the castle restaurant was satisfactory. Nice experience.

    Excellent visit
A great castle, with nice architecture and a large art collection. Complete interiors as well as a valuable art collection are exhibited. The art collection makes up the majority of the exposition. There was also an excellent exhibition of furniture by André Charles Boulle during our visit. The audio guide was also good. The park is on a large territory, and to explore it, I recommend renting an electric car at the entrance gate. The park did not surprise visually with anything very special, but apparently on a guided tour, hearing explanations and stories, the tour there is significantly more exciting. We didn't go everywhere in the park and only stopped a few times to take pictures, but it took us 1 hour by car. NB! When renting an electric car, payment is made only by card and a deposit of €500 is taken, which was promised to be released within a week, it has been 6 days now and it is still deposited. Why do they have to hold onto the money for so long, what claims do they expect during the week (parking and speeding fines?). We didn't get to go to the stables NB! It is stated on the internet that the castle restaurant is open all day, but at 15:00 we couldn't eat there because the waiter said they were already closed.

    To visit
What a beautiful place. The view of the castle is superb and we hurry to visit. We were there during the week so few people and we were able to take our time. Everything delighted us: the book cabinet and its rare manuscripts that can be contemplated, La Chapelle and its altar attributed to Jean Goujon, the Collections of the Musée Conde, the variety of works on display reveals the eclectic tastes of the Duke of Aumale. There is currently a very interesting exhibition on Ball not to be missed. You have to keep some time to discover the gardens. Parking is free. The staff is friendly

    Ideal for a family outing
very good experience. The castle is accessible from Chantilly train station by bus (beware however of signs on bus stops not always clear). The estate is very large and very impressive. The Award for one day is very reasonable as we were able to visit the castle, gardens, stables and attend the horse show (which was also very beautiful). We easily spend a day there and it is an ideal setting for a couple or family outing not far from Paris.

A magnificent collection and a beautiful park.
The Duc d'Aumale's Collections are wonderful: mainly paintings, but also porcelain, showcase objects, furniture... It's hard to grasp everything in one visit. What is more, a walk in the park is necessary: it is beautiful, relaxing, airy ... in short, designed for relaxation.

    varied visit
Superb place and gigantic park: the circuit (offered on the map) outside is nice (garden , hamlet, kangaroos, Sylvie house etc) Inside the castle not to be missed: so many objects of art to see! do not forget the library and its old books (including the fables of the Fountain). We also enjoyed the reception table set for a banquet in the deer room. We made a beautiful collection of photos! As for the large stables, it was original with its horse museum and its services of 2 riders to show the basics of horse riding. A successful day

    Beautiful visit
For the heritage weekend, we took the opportunity to spend the day at the Château de Chantilly. There is parking for 5€ a day 5 minutes walk from the castle. The staff is very nice and the visit of the castle very interesting. After a two-hour visit to visit the huge interior of this magnificent building, we took advantage of the park benches to enjoy sandwiches purchased nearby. We devoted the afternoon to the outdoor part just as interesting as the castle (especially on a beautiful sunny day) and ended up with the stables of the castle. Perfect day ^^

The game of noble alliances and inheritances focused on the Duke of Aumale, son of Louis-Philippe, the heritage of several of the very great families of France, Montmorency, Condé, Orléans. This results in an exceptional and relatively little-known site and collection. We spent an excellent day there between the visit of the castle and its collections, the equestrian show and the visit to the large stables, the walk in the park. The 1-day ticket allows you to make several entries in the same day. For example to eat outside the domain.

We love castles and had Chantilly on our bucket list for a while. Really glad we finally got to visit it even if I prefer castles of a more human size and with a more subtle decoration. However, from a historical point of view, it was a very interesting visit. The part I preferred was the Great Stables and the Museum of the horse. The stables are huge and really impressive (and the horses gorgeous). The museum was really interesting and displayed items that I had never seen before (antique saddles and carriages among other things). Both the stables and the museum visits are included in the overall fee, and I recommend that you make some time to see them.

One of the best chateaus to visit in France, located about an hour north of Paris, this chateau truly defines what a chateau is meant to be. Majestic layout and a lot to see, you would need to spend a few days here to see it all. The estate itself is massive and besides the chateau, there are outer buildings, the surrounding forest and trails, and the stables. The art collection itself is said to only be rivaled by that of the Louvre. Quite impressive display. The audio guide is available in several languages and does a great job taking you through the many rooms and art on exhibit throughout the chateau. Plan to spend the better part of a day here to at least see the chateau interior. There's a good sized gift shop on site and a restaurant as well. Parking is available just across from the chateau. If you come during the week, be prepared to compete with school groups at times for space in the rooms, or simply visit where the rooms where the classes aren't. Either way, plan to take your time and enjoy. There's a wealth of history and art to be seen and heard here.

If you're a member of the Amis du Louvre, or other groups/memberships, you can also attain a discount, so be sure to check and book ahead of time.

Having already visited the castle many years ago, I had the misfortune to return dressed in elegant attire for the pleasure of visiting it again and I was treated with my friends as if we were real outlaws . The staff was obnoxious, contemptuous, aggressive and I, who am a history buff and have visited many castles, was the worst experience of my life. Moral of the story, in Chantilly, come in jogging pants, sneakers, dirty hair, in rags, especially not dressed otherwise you will be treated to five dogs who look at you as if you were a blot on the decor. The Count of Aumale must have turned in his grave to see the treatment meted out to an elegantly dressed young woman who just wanted to wander around his castle for fun. The public in the street had more of a taste for him and appreciated the effort. A total shame.

This was more of a museum visit than visiting a stately home. If you’re interested in art and antiquities, this is definitely the chateau to visit. So much to look at I was actually a bit overwhelmed. Unfortunately, a tour of the apartments is short and separately priced/not included in your entrance ticket. Eating at the museum or Hamleau may require a long wait (although excellent food at the restaurant, and yes, plenty of Chantilly cream), and I was a little confused by the walking trails/signage. Not sure why the grounds has kangaroos but …they were there. Be prepared for a long walk if you don’t come by car and use public transport and I would definitely advise spending as much time as you like admiring the art and collections as you have to join separate tours to view more of the chateau and the grounds aren’t too spectacular.

Hello emmcaro, Thank you for your interest in the Château de Chantilly and for your comment. The Château de Chantilly is a jewel of our heritage, comprising several entities: the château and its Condé museum; the grounds and its 115 hectares spread over three gardens; the Great Stables with its resident Equestrian Company and The Living horse museum; and finally a 6,300-hectare forest. Together, these make up the Domaine de Chantilly, bequeathed to the Institut de France by the Duc of Aumale, Henri d'Orléans, in 1886. This prince, considered to be the greatest collector of his time, made Chantilly the setting for his countless masterpieces and precious manuscripts. In accordance with the wishes of the Duc of Aumale, the presentation of the works has remained unchanged since the 19th century, offering a unique opportunity to travel back in time and discover a museography typical of that era. With a 1-day ticket, which you can buy online or on site, you have access to the château (excluding theDuc of Aumale's private suites), the grounds, the Great Stables, equestrian animation and temporary exhibitions. The wallabies (kangaroos) in the grounds, which were bequeathed to the Fondation d'Aumale by their owner in 2002, are being carefully cared for and are thriving in Chantilly. Since the 17th century, the Domaine de Chantilly has been renowned for its highly diverse flora and fauna. These include geese, peacocks, bees, hedgehogs and squirrels, all of which delight visitors of all ages. Work has also just begun on the signage, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Access to the Château de Chantilly has been a long-term project, and the town of Chantilly has introduced free shuttle buses to make it easier for visitors to get to the castle from the station. You can find the shuttle timetable on the Internet. We hope that you will have the opportunity to come back and discover other aspects of the estate that you may not yet have explored. We look forward to welcoming you back! Best regards, Marie from the Château de Chantilly

We had planned half a day to discover the castle, the parks and the large stables, but that was not enough.

We visited:
- the painting gallery which is the second collection of old paintings in France, after that of the Louvre.
- the large apartments, a fine example of the ceremonial decorations appreciated in the 18th century, they offer a wide variety of art objects and furniture
- the private apartments of the Duke and Duchess of Aumale are the only intact princely apartments dating from the July Monarchy (you must book for this visit).

You really need a day or even two days to be able to visit everything

Spectacular chateau and grounds with amazing art work at a reasonable entrance fee, however signage is very poor to the point that you are directed out towards the gate to view the horse museum only to find the gates locked and you have to walk back to the main gate which is quite a distance especially with young children. ( we were not the only ones !) Apart from that it is well worth a visit even on a wet day though we had great weather.

I am very dissatisfied following the refusal that was issued to make an exceptional exchange of my 2 tickets for the guided tour of the private apartments scheduled on 26/07/2024 at 15:00.

Indeed, as it is a case of force majeure linked to the closure of the ring road by the public authorities and strong government incitement, I could not honour my visit. I called the day before in order to find a compromise to delay my visit but the regulation was applied strictly speaking.

I find it very unfortunate that I do not take into account these exceptional circumstances completely beyond my control and do not show understanding in the circumstances.

In addition, I wrote an email to this effect and again no attempt to find an amicable solution.

We are witnessing an odious mechanism powerless: the settlement to the letter without taking into account exceptional external parameters and the absence of a privileged customer relationship.

What a shame!

everything is wonderful in this area but everything (shuttle from the station to the area, the castle, the park, the carts, the stables....) is paying and expensive, very expensive. RATP had rezoned the Navigo to encourage Parisians to leave the car and travel with public transport to visit the wonders of Ile de France. With these prices not sure they can afford several times a year, they have all lost common sense!!!

Purchase, via a CE, of 4 tickets including access to the castle and the equestrian show.
For tickets through the CE, you have to call to reserve but the number does not answer and does not follow up on the various telephone messages left.
When we arrived, the show was complete.
We were therefore able to visit the castle which is magnificent but we paid the price of the equestrian show for nothing (4 tickets). So very very disappointed.
