The land in front of the monastery didn't look really nice, it was more like under-construction, without real construction. But after I got inside the complex, I was stunned by how it's kept in well shape. Also I have to say that there is nice and drinkable water.

As in evry other church everything is very neat, it quite peaceful here but it is really full of tourists, also we went here over the weekend. The church is rather small but it is worth visiting. Additionally, the museum hosts old Christian paitings dating back to xviii century.

Founded in 1696 and much restored in the 1930s, Brancoveanu Monastery is a truly beautiful and peaceful place, with lovely Orthodox chapels, cloisters, colonnades, immaculate gardens with priests and nuns quietly going about their daily business.

In the church and chapels are some magnificent icons - one, of the Final Judgement had an interesting depiction of a naked sinner on his way to hell being spanked by a horned and winged devil - the rest of the icons are rather more conventional!

The monastery is in a great location, among the mountains. It is quiet and peaceful. It is also a site of religious/historical significance.

We have spent some hours on this Monastery with our kids. Very pleased to find superb views and very nice gardens. Good roads to reach it by car or bikes, nice people but still not much to do else.

If you travel from Brasov to Sibiu, this monastery is a must see. A beautiful arhitectural church with nice painting. I was here for several times, and is nice to visit both in winter and summer. Read about history of this place to undestand the importance in romanian history.
