I was not too impressed with Keel Square when I visited,. A very poor tribute to the ship building heritage of Sunderland. Try it and you might disagree with me.

Walk the trail showing ships built on the River Wear through to Sunderland's shipbuilding years to the glass propeller showing the people who helped build the ships. Once dusk falls the cascading water show begins with changing lights.

This is now a lovely civic space in front of the magistrates. The fountains weren’t on when I took my early morning picture, but they are lovely. Great to see some regeneration going on.

They've done a wonderful job with Keel Square, it's lovely to see how pretty it looks with the new lighting and to see all of the little ones enjoying the water fountains.

Over the years I think the appeal of this square will grow. AT present it is still quite new but a nice peaceful place. Used to host special events such as ice rink at winter time.

It's not a bad place, as it's tidied Sunderland town up. Although they spent all that money there is pretty much nothing there.. a town square you expect something to be there not just a fountain. Could add something there but time will tell.

Keel Square is a recent addition to Sunderland city centre and has been the venue for local events. As it becomes more established, I'm sure that more events will be planned. It is set to be a focal point for our bid to become a...More

Nothing there apart from a few water shoots, If I were on the council I would have rather the money have gone to better use, ie- policing, nurses, firemen

When I think of a town square I imagine, outside bars, sitting outside drinking beer, or perhaps coffee, eating delicious food from nice restaurants or bistro, perhaps eating an ice-cream, people watching and watching the world slowly going by. Perhaps some street artists or musicians...More

When you consider the drab, characterless and scruffy shopping areas of the dismal town centre I suppose the modern design of Peel Square must be an improvement on what was there before. Having said that, it takes a tad more than a few lit water...More

Hi Bob, I've only just seen your query, my apologies. I live in Sunderland I will see if I can get a photo next time I'm in town. Then see if I can get it to you on here.
