There's lots to see and photograph in the free entry Museum and Winter Gardens. On this visit I planned to see the Dinosaurs in the Winter Gardens. These were nicely presented amongst Ferns in the appropriate humid atmosphere of the time. I also try to...More

This is probably what I would call the heart of Sunderland. It is a delightful museum and arboretum in one with a nice park behind it with it's own lake. A place of tranquility. The museum itself now houses the Main Library as well. Well...More

Located in central Sunderland, if you're visiting Mowbray park for a walk or children's play park, pop in to the Winter gardens. See some wonderful plants and the beautiful fish, learning some facts on the way. Also look into and learn a little about the...More

I visited recently because I hadn't been for years. It hadn't changed. Like everything else run by Sunderland council it is a token effort. It is attached to a park with a small lake. It was filthy. The lake was full of gulls with not...More

We decided to spend a couple of hours here to make a change from the Newcastle museums that are so close to home and visited too frequently. We were very surprised that this place was excellent and free! We particularly enjoyed the treetop walk. There...More

I had no problems walking about with a stick. I was not especially alert to more complex needs - I am so sorry not to have been more observant.

It's a museum in a large park. Lots of space to run around outside and a play park too. The museum isn't very big but it's a nice place to visit. Our daughter loves the dinosaurs.
