Bright, modern central building with good cafe and shop, and a changing indoor exhibition. The rock art is all outdoor, in situ, so you get some idea of the context. Boardwalks take you round, conveniently there are two areas of petroglyphs so you can have...More

Enjoyed this outdoor museum. Used the audio guide and it helped to explain the rock art very well. I would say this is a must in Alta for those interested in history. While it focused on Stone Age art it does place in context. Some...More

enjoy a 3 hour walk around large slabs of rock where between 6000 and 3000 years ago natives scratched stories of their daily life. Very nicely kept and set-up. Very good facilities

We went with a tour group & it was drizzling. The rock art is naturally, outside. So be prepared with wet weather gear. It was quite good - & considering the age, is amazing. In the visitor centre is a museum - similar to others...More

Very good to place to get to know the local area history. They have artefacts from pre-historic era and also showcase many archeological findings.

Alta Museum is different from other museum. This is literally walking to history, the most interesting part of the tour is when you go outside the museum and see the rock carving dating from 10,000 years ago. Definitely a must go.
