In the middle of the countryside, nestled in a shady 5-hectare park, by a gurgling river, there is a village that came back from the past... A village where bygone days come to life again, where an- cient trades and tools are back in action. Come and experience History, 5 km from Foix! Meet Philippe (Zézé), Didier and Kamel... the blacksmith, clog maker, and baker of olde. These three legendary charac- ters are here to show you the ever so revo- lutionary skills and methods of yesteryear.

This museum is very different to anything I have ever seen. There are some great artefacts and very interesting exhibits. However, it is all in French. It was fascinating and I wish that there had been information in English as well. The presentations were amazing as well - the staff tried to translate as much as possible for us -... More

i can't remember how much our ticket was but it can't have been too expensive. Absolutely loads of free parking and an enormous restaurant. First is the visit to the museum of France through the ages and the different jobs that existed and the tools each craftsman used at these different periods. Most interesting. Fortunately for me my friend speaks... More

This museum with live demonstrations shows you how people in the past worked in Foix. There is shoe maker, a man who makes combs from the horns of cows, and a historic (working)forge. There is also a very nice display on how people lived in the Foix area 100 years ago. I went on a rainy day, and it was... More

visited this museum with our 6 year old little girl. she absolutely loved it. Better to calculate half a day: as there is quite a lot to see and to do.

This was one of the places in Foix that really gave us a feeling for the historical life of the people who actually lived and worked in the south of France. The blacksmiths and other craftsmen demonstrated their ancient skills and we got to see marvelous artifacts. The restaurant is spacious and well-priced. We highly recommend this to both families... Great place to spend half a day or even a whole day with your kids. Excellent attraction with different activities and show. The hosts are very enthusiastic about their trade. There is also a playground and a snack/restaurant for some downtime. Good price for families. It takes at least 2,5 hours to do the whole tour.

We enjoyed our visit to Les Forges since there was lots of outdoor space for our children to run and explore. We all liked the farm equipment display. We enjoyed the demonstrations but, of course, they were all in French. The blacksmith was the best since language wasn't needed to watch him bang hot iron. The shoe demonstration was difficult...
