A nice day out with lots of little shops and cobbled street. Lots of good eating places. Parking is sparse so plan where you intend parking. The shops have lots of quirky gifts and the common is close at hand it you feel like a walk. Or you can walk to the Wynt y Felin a ruined windmill that has spectacular views. Llantrisant church is also beautiful and has the only painting of Christ without a beard, the graveyard has some old graves and again spectacular views. The Butcher shop has excellent local products and makes its own faggots well worth a try.

Free parking, in town, then a short walk to what is left of the castle. There are some stocks for you to sit in, and an information board with a potted history of the location. The information centre was closed when we arrived. Good views from the bottom of the castle. There is a few local shops and a couple of pubs nearby, plus a church and churchyard. Worth a visit If nearby.

It was great experience surfing through the Welsh valley. Stunning view of Llantrisant and Talbot Green

It used to be a castle but sadly it’s not any more. There is a sign next to it where you can see a drawing of what it used to look like. Surprisingly in the drawing it still doesn’t look like a castle but looks exactly like a ruined tower. The sign is written in Welsh and English. Sometimes there are goats inside the railings, next to the ruin. They are very interesting to look at but not very friendly. We tried to feed them an apple but they didn’t want it.

Walking through Llantrisant, we happened across the small ruin of Llantrisant Castle, tucked behind the Guild Hall.
You can't enter the ruins on safety grounds, but you can walk around the outside.
Interesting free castle to visit in the Welsh Valleys.
