There are two tour options that I'm aware of - 1.25 hours for 550b and 2.25 hours for 900b. I chose the shorter tour, departing at 6:30AM. Not exactly at sunrise, but not long after. I was hoping to see more lotus flowers, but at this time (late February) there were very few in bloom. Loads of birds to see though. Couldn't get too close to them without scaring them into flight, so if you want decent photos, bring more than just a phone. Buffaloes were neat to see, and we saw several herds of 10 or more animals. We could approach them rather closely. Then we drove quite far east and north, wandering through a forest. I kept checking my watch, certain that we had gone over time, and when we returned to the pier 2 hours later and it was time to pay, I very politely reminded the driver that I had requested the short tour. He realized that, but had opted to give me the longer tour without extra charge. I did tip the man, up to a price between the two fixed prices, as I felt it was a genuine offer, not an attempt to get more money. I enjoyed the tour very much. I would recommend an early departure time, as there is no shade on the boats and it's a hot sun out on the lake.

There is not much to see unless you take a boat tour. No English spoken. If you go a little further you can access the viewing tower which gives nice views over the wetlands.

We took an early morning boat trip (two hours) on this enormous fresh water lake, the largest in Thailand, in time to see pink lotus blooming. There is a wide variety of birds - mainly waders, and any twitcher would have a field day. I regretted not preparing myself better to recognise more of these wonderful birds. Walking along to the end of lake shore is a wetlands research centre - well worth a look too as it emphasises the educational vocation of the area.

Unfortunately we were too late to see the lotus flowering, but besides that the lake offers a lot other ‘nature’. Sun rise over the lake was nice and it’s interesting to see how the fisherman catch their fish with the traditional nets.

Great way to start the day by local boat. Although the lotus were not in bloom, there were lots of beautiful things to see and experience. Quiet, reverent, nice.

The sunrise tour on the lake is beautiful and recommended. However, if you are interested in seeing the bird life make sure you your boatman is made ware of this before you set off or you will find yourself zipping past eagles, king fishers, etc to see the water lilies.

The name of this attraction I found somewhat misleading, because in two hours there I saw a grand total of two birds. The main appeal of the complex is being able to walk out along the elevated wooden walkways above the lake. There are various huts and rest areas and you can also take a boat ride to nowhere in particular for 300 baht.

Entry is 200 baht for international visitors and 20 baht for Thais. For some unknown reason, my wife and I were charged the local rate. Not sure it’s worth 200 baht so just as well.

There are some trinket shops near the entrance and the prices here were cheaper than elsewhere. A good place for souvenir shopping.

To get there, we chartered a songthaew from Phattalung for 400 baht return. Relative to what is available to see in the area, this is worth a visit.

Departing in the dark at 5.30 am, we were not really sure what to expect... but a soon as the sun goes up... everything around you is so incredibly beautiful that you don't know where to look anymore.
Birds, water buffaloes and so many different biotopes. Our boat driver was truly amazing, showing us a lot of interesting animals and explaining us about local fishing techniques.
The 2 hours trip went by super quickly and we wished it never ended. I LOVE with Thale Noi...
