I organised a taxi to bring me here from Kalasin as well as visiting the reclining buddha complex just up the road and the nearby Wat Putthawat Phu Sing.
The all timber ceremonial building is indeed a work of art. The man hours involved just boggles the mind. Certainly worth having a look around.

This temple grounds in a forest covers a large area. First, the sacred, 2000 year old carved leaning Buddha on a rock is a 15+ minute walk from the huge towering temple that was completed in 2004. ( You can walk or drive to the area. ) The newly built wooden temple is also beautiful. I find it interesting how these new temples get their hard wood from endangered tree species from Laos.

Not crowded at all but very neat. There are some interesting buildings to see, and there are new things still being constructed so it will be even better at some point. If you're in kalasin you should check it out.

A very huge and peaceful Buddhist Park, with its most famous attraction being a approximately 2 meter long reclining Buddha that's resting on his LEFT hand (all other reclining Buddhas rest on their right hand), and that's said to be built in 1692. The rest of the park consists of a roundish bulb-shaped pagoda, an open ubosot with a huge Buddha statue, and a modern-looking wihan with lots of seated Buddha images and huge yellow-colored lotus-shape painting on its ceilings. And also lots of peacocks and peahens, and a handful of rabbits, to feed.

Outstanding architecture and beautiful statues. The woodwork in the Stupa building is amazing. Beautiful views as well. A must-see in Kalasin. Support the local monks while there. Be respectful. Do not miss this

There are two temples in this area. One temple has an amazing wood ceiling and intricately carved story panels on every one of the doors. The huge building has been completed. And there are two huge stone buddhas underneath a canopy. The canopy is visible from the main road, you can't miss it. Definitely a must see if you are in the area. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Kalasin province!

Wat can be seen from the road very far away. The huge building is newly built not yet completed, but we can imagine how great and beautiful it would be. You may feel relax when you are in the Jedi. High ceiling and big thick wood floor makes very good feeling.

If you are in the area to visit Kalasin attractions, add this temple into your agenda especially if you are visiting the Sirinthorn Museum. Wat Phutthanimit or know by the villagers in the area as Wat Phu Khao (mountain Temple)The temple is located about 12 Km north of the Museum, and it is on the way driving to Udon Thani, The main ceremonial hall (อุโบสถ) was made of woods and logs from the lake of Lampao Dam. The hall wood panels were carved beautifully to depict the life of Lord Buddha and his reincarnation folktales. The temple area is kept clean and maintain a wooden area of the temple in the mountain (you will see peacocks and other animals roaming around the temple. It is a great place to walk around and see beautiful wood works.

This very nice Wat is situated just 7km out of the small town of Sahatsakhan, and is easy to find. 2 huge new buddha statues (one sitting and one reclining) are actually under construction. The wat itself, teakwood interior and built on a laterite fundament, has beautiful woodcarving on the doors and ceiling (the latter obviously less visible ...). The grounds are well kept and were very clean. Should you approach the site by passing through Sahatsakhan, you might also stop to visit Wat Phu Singh, located on a hill at the north-end of town. it's a steep climb (650 steps), but the panorama on top is worth it ... .
