This is an ancient temple, enshrining Sree Vallabha(lord vishnu) at Tiruvalla. The name Tiruvalla originates from the presiding deity Vallabha. One of the oldest, biggest temples in central kerala, the 8 ft idol of Sree Vallabha within the sanctum sanctorum is spectacular and a sight to behold.A must visit for any devout hindu.

An ancient temple in Thiruvalla, Sri. Vallabha Temple have lot of stories related to epics. The boundary wall (chuttu mathil) constructed in 1 night by bhuthathanmar. The graffiti at the entrance is a marvelous art created hundreds of years ago and still in tact. The main temple idol is Mahavishnu and there are small temples also. Kadhakali is a main attraction here. My daughter had chor unu in this temple and we visit the temple whenever we are in Thiruvalla.

A divya desam , very ancient temple , the Lord here is with minimal alankaram , the sheer majesty , gait of the Lord is to be seen to be believed . The moola vigraha radiates immense peace . Sri Sudarsana temple is just behind Sri Vallabha's shrine . Offering of oil for lamps at the sanctum is considered auspicious here ..

The town of Thiruvalla gets its name from the ancient name " Thiruvallabhapuram", which means the town where Vallabha ( Lord Vishnu) resides. Vallabha is the main deity of this temple. The temple has high boundary walls & is very well spaced out. The ambience inside the temple is very soothing & relaxing. Adequate parking space & shops are available near to the temple. Another peculiar thing about this temple is that " Kathakali" dance is performed every night at this temple. Great ambience ..

'Vallabha' is another name for Vishnu, and Thiru Vallabhan is the Dravidian form for Sri Vallabha.
The old name of the place, Thiruvallabhapuram got shortened over time to the present day name, Thiruvalla.
The Sri Vallabha Temple at Thiruvalla is one of the 108 Vaishnavite Tirupatis in India.
There are two main deities worshipped at the temple. They are Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakram worshipped as Sudarshanamurthy, and Vishnu as Vallabhan.
Of these, the Sudarshanamurthy is the first consecrated idol, and faces west. The Vallabha idol is believed to have been recovered from the Netravati River near Mangalore, following a vision that a devotee had. The Vallabha idol faces east, and takes precedence over the Sudarsanamurthy.
The temple and surroundings encompass around 8 acres of land. There are 5 poojas daily, and it is one of the major temples in Kerala.
Kathakali, one of the classical dances of India, is a favourite of the Lord at Thiruvalla, and there are Kathakali performances almost every day of the year.
Thiruvalla is one of the 64 ancient Brahmin villages believed to have been established by the sage, Parashurama, between Gokarn (Karnataka) and Kanyakumari, of which 32 are in Kerala.
The temple is around 2.5 km from the Thiruvalla Rly. Stn.
