The Swan Valley is some distance from :Perth, but it is close enough for a day trip,. The Swan Valley is best known for its wine, which made its reputation. It's also famous for its luscious table grapes. The Swan Valley has lots more produce, including the sweet watermelons, which are grown between the vines. The Swan Valley is one of the most significant wine-making regions in Australia.

Queen Victoria granted John Septimus Roe 4,000 acres on the Swan River for services rendered to the British Crown. He planted the first vines in the Swan Valley in 1840. In terms of its contribution to Australian wine making, the Swan Valley ranks alongside the Barossa Valley and the Riverina. The Swan Valley has many more products apart from wine, such as the plump watermelons grown between the vines and a Swan Valley specialty, the luscious table grapes, full of fruit and flavor

The Swan Valley is about half an hour from Perth, capital city of Western Australia. The Swan Valley is a warm-climate area, best known for its rich, full-bodied wine. Most of the vineyards are well established and produce appealing wine. Other things to taste include craft beer and chocolate. It's worth taking a tour, you don't need too many tastings of strong Swan Valley wine to be over the limit

Last Sunday the weather was perfect for our first visit to this winery, where Patricia and I shared a great cheese platter, as well as a bottle of their delightful verdelho (for obvious reasons we finished it at home) in a pleasant, relaxing setting. Hosts Mickele and Karen were graciously hospitable and knowledgeable. The wine tasting reception area is large and comfortable and replete with photos and other fascinating memorabilia. An added attraction was two well trained canines, Bella and her daughter Luna, particularly Luna who simply could not get enough of run and fetch the ball with her amazing aerial and ground interceptions. All in all, well worth a visit.

The Swan Valley has a range of activities. Wineries, cheese shops, chocolate and other sweet and nut shops, restaurants, cycling, ifly(simulated sky diving), distilleries, breweries, etc. The information Center in Guildford has a lot of information on the area. The staff there are also very helpful and can make suggestions if you tell them your interests. They will also make reservations for restaurants and accommodation. They will give you a good map of the area that has all the interesting sites.

We drove up the Swan Valley on holiday . No shortage of wineries plus chocolate factory, nougat factory with amazing ice cream, honey shop, cheese factory, olive shop and lovely scenery to boot. Great day out I'm sure I missed a few businesses sorry!

We live only a 15 minute drive from the Swan Valley, and visit regularly. We have a few favourite wineries, especially the 'boutique' ones where service is very much personalised.
We like wineries where we are allowed to bring our own picnic. If we are buying a bottle or two of their primary product, why should we not enjoy our own food rather than be forced to pay a whole lot for "chef creations"?
But it has at times been "Perth's Valley of Bad Taste" with too many bus parties of young people eager only to get drunk out of their heads.

Swan Valley Perth's Valley of Taste is really just a road that that encompasses Swan Valley's food and wineries.

There's a lot to stop in and see here, in a much smaller area than the Hunter Valley which makes it easier to get through a lot of wineries and foodie attractions. And if you're not into wineries, there's still a lot to see here, from chocolate to nuts, honey and cheese.

Nice to drive around and stop in at all the places.
