Beautiful architectural experience. You can feel the presence of God in this place. The stained glass and paintings are remarkable. I have a deeper sense of appreciation for the Father of Champagne after this trip.

Little forgotten town where you‘ll find the abbey and the tombe of the creator and developper of Champagne as we know it today: Dom Petrus Perignon. Magnificent view over the vineyards. Charming little town.

This whole town but especially this old abbey is a significant piece of history that is overlooked in France. Where Many vineyards are and so beautiful to walk around. The abbey is free and open to the public.

This is a nice little stop, to feel a little of the history of champagne and pay respects to Dom Perignon.

Small abbey church, not much different from many others. Located on the outskirts of Hautvillers. Dom Perignon rests in piece here, the creator and developer of champagne as we know it.

Lovely Abbey in a typically beautiful French countryside village with also the resting place of Don Perignon . It is lovely just to have a leisurely walk around the village.
Very helpful Tourist Office.

It may not be Dom Perignon that invented the champagne, but name one name that is as associated with the bubbles as his? So the highlight of the visit to the Abbaye is for most I presume to visit the tomb of Perignon himself. And why not come to pay your respect for him and his invention.
The village where he is buried is gorgeous and should not be missed on a tour around the villages of Champagne.

So fortunate this was part of the champagne tour I booked through Expedia. Met some great people in our small group of 6 and our guide was hands down awesome!
Of course it is mostly just another abbey but spectacular to see the place where Monsieur Dom Perignon worked and was laid to rest.

There's not a whole lot more to this abbaye than being an abbaye. Don't expect anything relating to Dom Perignon and Champagne.
