Have visited Malta a few times & every time my wife makes Mdina glass one of her main places to visit. You can watch the glass being blown and purchase from the factory shop.

I found it interesting. They have a very rich history. And it was satisfying to watch the actual art of making glass. Amazing skills on display.
The glassware were soooo beautiful.

I love Mdina Glass and bought a beautiful but very expensive crystal vase. No care instructions were given and I put it on a window sill. The colours faded quickly and the vase has lost its beauty. I have been in touch with Mdina Glass on numerous occasions but they just ignore me. Very disappointing customer service

We'd visited some of the glass shops on Malta and wanted to buy a nice piece and we're willing to spend a couple of hundred Euros so visited the Mdina factory. It was interesting and there was a lot of choice. However every piece we looked at had things like bubbles or other imperfections or round parts that were not round etc. These were the full price, "perfect" items. It may be that this is because each one is handmade but if I saw any of these pieces on a friend's table at home I'd assume they had bought it cheap as a reject. So, disappointingly, we left empty handed.

Beautiful glass pieces. Fun to watch the glass being blown. Clean bathrooms and beautiful jewelry stores nearby.

See the craftsmen work with glass and give form to it. Pretty hot in there, tiring job, but I hope fulfilling. One hall with slightly damaged pieces, and next to it the hall with the masterpieces. You choose what to select.

THIS is a very important review because it seems that some people are under the impression that Mdina Glass is operating from the Ta' Qali Craft Village. They are not.
A key part of my holiday to Malta was to buy myself a Mdina Glass paperweight direct from them to add to my paperweight collection.
I'd researched their shop and when I arrived at the craft village I asked where it was to be told they weren't in the village but had a site "over there".
I asked where "over there" was and staff at the craft village said it was some way and I might consider a taxi.
Fortunately I didn't because Mdina Glass can be walked to in just over five minutes if you walk to the craft village entrance, turn left and go about 400m.
Once there I thoroughly enjoyed the shop and views of the glass blowing area which offered everything from paperweights, vases and glass figures to glass ceiling lights, bowls and wine bottle stoppers.
Crucially staff there are very good and very helpful and advised me about traditional Maltese-style paperweights, a deep blue shot through with gold. I bought one which is now sitting on my bookcase at home.
Much more importantly for anyone planning a visit to Malta, Mdina Glass told me that they shortly plan on opening an outlet at the new craft village which is being built at Ta' Qali.
No time scale was mentioned for this, but if it isn't there when you arrive then simply walk down to Mdina Glass and visit their headquarters for yourself. It's a fascinating place. Hope this helps all those seeking Mdina Glass but a little confused as to where it might be.

I recently took a tour with my family but we couldn't find Mdina Glass. We found Valletta Glass in the arts and crafts village. We found some good buys at a discount. Is Mdina Glass still operating?

The shop has a wide range of glass vases, clocks, paperweights and a host of other things across two floors. Some are single colour and others have blocks, swirls or more intricate designs to encourage you to part with cash

Ta'Qali is advertised as a craft village. I wouldn't call it a village in the traditional sense, it is more a series of square blocks with well laid out and air con showrooms for the various crafts of Malta. There are gemstones and jewellery in one, pottery in another, glass a third and so on. Because the local busses no longer run directly here you have to either have a hire car, join a tour bus, get a taxi or walk about 1/2 a mile from the main road. This has left the craft traders a bit isolated, which is a shame. We watched the glass blowers and bought some lovely glass items. Worth the visit, but not in 35 degree heat and 85% humidity if you decide to walk from the bus. Walk in the winter, air con transport in the summer.
