We did our third trip with Mike and Mountain Bike Kerala at the end of February/early March 2024. We’d already loved the single-track mountain biking in Kerala and been blown away by Singalila Ridge, so who else would we choose to ride with to explore Southern India on a trip that takes you from Chennai in the East to Kochi in the West? Along with Mike as our guide was Deepak, also well known to us from previous adventures so we knew we were in great hands from the outset. The 3rd member of the team was Jilmond, the driver, and a more cheery, fun chap you will not find. Always on hand for ‘cold water top up’, biscuits, bananas and many other treats, he kept us laughing all the way as well us driving us to restaurants and various temples once we were off the bikes for the day.
The reason we love cycling in India is that it provides the opportunity to do the thing we love most in a place that is so stimulating from the sites, smells and sounds that are experienced every inch of the journey. Mike and the team provide a fabulous all-round experience to get the most from your trip; excellent route planning, accommodation, restaurants, refreshment stops and off the bike activities to give you a really authentic experience that you will never forget. We absolutely loved the stay at Swamimalai, complete with foot massage, and the houseboat was superb. The food was delicious everywhere and we drank gallons of much needed lime sodas. Some new favourites were egg puffs, shahja shake and the Indian Coffee House is a MUST! We even did a bit of route exploring in Tamil Nadu that should be part of future trips and was beautiful. It was lovely to go back to a couple of places we had stayed at on the Kerala single-track trip, notably Chrissie’s and Misty Mountain Resort.
The pace of the riding is good with some early starts as it was very hot but this is what we expected and it was lovely to feel the warmth coming from our dismal winter. It also allowed us to arrive at the accommodation in good time and chill out before dinner, beers and yahtze – our holiday game of choice – that Deepak is so competitive 
For this trip we hired hard tail mountain bikes from Mike and they were spot on; able to cope with the varied road surfaces and checked, cleaned and maintained on a daily basis by Deepak
The people of India could not be more welcoming with shouts of ‘hello’ everywhere and people coming to meet us when we stopped so they could ask about our journey. We love everything about riding in India but a huge amount of that comes from being with Mike and the Mountain Bike Kerala team. Nothing is too much trouble; they give you the best possible experience and you don’t have to think about anything other than riding your bike, immersing yourself in the places you visit and deciding which trip you are going on next!!

We have traveled the world - mountain biked, road biked, hiked in many, many countries. MTB Kerala is the best of the best. Best guides - so caring, aware and tuned in. Make any accommodation that is needed for maximum happiness. Complete authenticity - got to do what the locals do, super untouristy. Everyone ran like a dream. Mike, the owner, has literally pioneered finding trails all over India. He is THE BOMB and we all owe him a huge thank you! You will love any trip you plan with MTB Kerala! Laurie and Mark

Me and a friend did the 12 day Kerala Singletrack holiday and we loved it all! There were 3 other people on our trip and we had 2 guides; Mike and Deepak who were both really lovely and great at doing what they do . The riding was a lot of singletrack, some features in now and then and there were a few interesting steep descents that were challenging but certainly not death defying.
The weather was superb; hot and sunny. The food was just outstanding. Oh wow was the food good! We ate local food, nobody was ill at all and there was plenty of it and plenty of variety. You could have meat if you liked and there was plenty of vegetarian food.
The people in India were lovely. It was so lovely to be able to leave your bike outside and it was safe and sound and still there when you came back to it.
The accommodation was lovely and I must say, much better than I was expecting.
We had plenty of tea, soda and tiffin stops throughout the day.
I came home so chilled and relaxed. This holiday, in the middle of our horrible grim UK winter, was an absolute tonic.
It was fantastic value and the evening food and beer for the 12 days was unbelievable great value at less than £10 per day roughly, depending on how much you drink.
Thumpi, our driver, was also great and had such a great bus.
I loved this holiday. I thought it was a one off, but I'm seriously thinking about going back.

Couple female friends and I booked an 11 days trip with Mike not knowing what to expect. What a pleasant surprise to mountain bike in Kerala in lush and magnificent landscapes. I was very happy to experience Kuttikkanam, near Kumily and Munnar, on bicycle. Trail selection was great and different everyday. Lots of tea plantations riding. My highlight was the Hike/Bike day of Meesapulimala mountain, what a view and technical riding. We rented the bikes, we had minor equipment issues and Mike was able to fix them promptly.

Mike was very attuned to our curiosity to try all the Indian specialties and selected great tea shops. Funny, generous of his time, caring and always on time. lol. Deepak, such a nice man and a very good rider, was patient and caring to our needs. Jilmond, our driver, was kind and funny. Kiela, Mike's wife, joined us and it was lovely to have her around. Jobish, another guide, joined our group for a couple days. It was really nice to meet him. The accommodations were great (Misty Mountain, Chrissys and Royal Retreat) with amazing food.

Thanks again to Mike and his team for making this trip memorable. Nandi!

My son and I had 5 days on our family trip to India this January. Both of us are avid cyclists so Mike was able to accommodate us by providing us with good quality bikes, with racks and panniers. He provided us with detailed ride notes and gpx files for our itinerary across Kerala, from Kumily to Ft Kochi. The routes we traveled went through small villages in India, through beautiful scenery of tea, coffee, cardamom, cinnamon, and fruit plantations. The accommodations booked for us were locally run resorts, homestays, and inns with great food and dining options. For my son, it was his first time experiencing small town India, with warm, friendly people who show hospitality to visitors. Mountain Bike Kerala can arrange fully supported tours for casual cyclists and customized tours for more experienced cyclists. Throughout our tour, Mike and his crew of experts were accessible by SMS or phone. The price was fully inclusive of transfers to and from the airport, cycling equipment, and accommodations. They run cycle tours throughout India. If you want to really experience the country, culture, and people, Mountain Bike Kerala can provide you with this experience.

My wife and I recently took a mountain bike tour with Mike and Jobish from Mountain Bike Kerala. The tour started at Chrissie’s Hotel in Kumily and finished one week later in Fort Kochi. Everything about the tour was memorable, from the amazing scenery, challenging climbs, crazy downhills, funky tea shops, ramshackle towns, chaotic traffic and friendly folks all along the route. Mike and Jobish were consistently professional, relaxed, funny and encouraging. The hotels we stayed at were excellent as was Sheldon, our driver/luggage handler. Mountain Bike Kerala made our first bike tour in India unforgettable 😊💕👍

I joined the South India Coast to Coast trip with Mountain BIke Keerela. It was a superb cycle trip across South India that gives a full flavour of India and its culture and heritage. Plenty options to interact with the locals when cycling through towns and villages and enough time factored in to do some sight seeing en route too.
The trip was very well organised and the support team were excellent and always there on hand with drinks, snacks, water, bike repairs etc etc. Pre trip communication and advice was great. Mike runs a very well organised trip that ticks all the boxes - all you have to do is pedal and enjoy the scenery. :) I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this trip.......just do it!

We did a really memorable 3-day trip with Mountain Bike Kerala. I contacted Mike a few months before arriving in Kerala. He was really good at tailoring a trip to our needs (both of us can cycle comfortably on the road etc, but hadn't done multi-day trips or much mountain biking).

Day 0 our driver Sheldon picked us up from Munroe Island (at the end of our 3-day kayaking trip), and drove us to Thekkady (Chrissie's).

Day 1 after breakfast we cycled ~4 hours to Misty Mountain Experience (Teyla), with Sheldon carrying our luggage and helping us with directions. Mostly on small roads, with quite a few ups-and-downs (fun, although had to walk once or twice). It was a beautiful stretch of road, with some of the quietest roads taking us up into the tea plantations. Plenty of roadside stops for fruit and tea. Slept at Misty Mountain Experience.

Day 2 we did 3-4 hours of off-road mountain biking. Deepak was a really good guide - lots of patience for beginners like us, and tailored the trip to our needs. Slept at Misty Mountain Experience again.

Day 3 were back on the hybrid bikes, descending down a long (and very beautiful) road towards Kochi, for approx 4-5 hours. I had a problem with my bike (it might have been my fault), and Mike and his team drove out to fix it - much appreciated! Sheldon then drove us to the airport.

The whole trip was great fun, with lots of 'off-the-beaten-track' experiences that we wouldn't usually have had as tourists. Everything ran very smoothly. Thanks for everything - was a really memorable trip!
