Had an adventurous and memorable 1 day mountain biking tour with Mike in the beautiful and off the beaten path hill station of Kuttikanam. Mike was very relaxed, friendly and easy to chat to, and knew amazing secret single track trails around the surrounding countryside through the tea plantations, small villages and back paths. The mountain bikes were great quality and Mike brought us to great view points, tea stalls and even a unique pub! A really special day in nature and an experience we will never forget, thank you Mike!

Adventure biking at its best. Mike has pieced together an incredible network of trails that he matches to your ability, fitness and readiness on the day. We explored farm tracks, terraces and rubbly walkways through tea, cardamom and pepper plantations, diverted down rocky valleys, skimmed the edges of high plateaus, peddled through wild lemongrass, grunted up 2600 metre misty mountains to bike amidst herds of wild tahr and then descended on massive looping forest trails. Tea plantation paths, small back roads, terraced village steps and alleys always led to regular tea stops with Mike ensuring we got to try the best local snacks. It’s hot but manageable with most biking in the morning and early afternoon. The trip takes you gradually higher up into the cooler mountainous area. The scenery is outstanding and you get to enjoy Indian village food as well as restaurants in the evening. Depak was our second bike guide along with Mike and he was excellent, both patient and expert. Thampi was always on hand with the bus and drove us safely through Keralan traffic. Both were good company in the evening and we were lucky enough to have Mike’s wife Khila there too for some of the riding. Mountain Bike Kerala is a good team. I was probably on the edge of my technical ability but this was managed perfectly and I loved learning I could bike anywhere. The bike I hired from Mike never had a problem. As someone else has said, do this trip while it is still available. It’s a one-off.

I just went to Kerala on this trip and added 3 days before on the backwaters then 3 nights after which was perfect. The state is fascinating and the three week holiday there was one of my best travel experiences.

I have been on 4 trips with Mike, Deepak and Pankaj over 5 years. Cheerful, capable, street smart and magnanimous at every turn, on and off the trails, Mike has proven to be the guide I always needed, every time. Second to none, hilarious team behind him.

Just returned from MTB Kerela’s trans India cycle trip - Chennai to Kerala - and it was amazing. Hats off to Mike, Deepak, Rocky and Thumbe for such a wonderful adventure across authentic India. The route was masterful on carefully selected quiet roads with excellent hotels. A special mention for the fantastic levels of kindness and care shown by the team. Tremendous and thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic mountain bike trails and a great guide. Who would have known that tea plantations provide excellent single track trails through stunning scenery. The trails that Mike has discovered in this lush area of Kerala have something for almost everyone. I would describe the riding we did as a XC Urban Indian Fusion. There are plenty of different routes with various degrees of difficulty he can tailor the rides accordingly.
Endless flowing single track to quite technical rock gardens there is enough to keep most riders attention. We loved riding in the area where the locals are very friendly and there is always places to stop off for drinks and a bite. We particularly liked the veg/egg puffs (puff pastry with filling) accompanied by lemon soda and of course chai (tea).
We are a couple who travelled there as part of a wider trip across India I can recommend making this part of any trip to the area. The bikes and equipment are up to date and in great working order. All the guides are very helpful and one took some great photos for us. The van is perfectly geared up to take people and bikes which gave us plenty of options for rides and many uplifts so we could enjoy more down hill which we liked.

MTB Kerala took us on a multidays ride on some of the best mountain biking in Kerala region. Michael-Deepak-Rakesh and the rest of their team spoiled 6 (six) of us to show what is Kerala hospitality about. Best rides, best foods, local wine drink (it was pretty good). Thanks Michael, it was great-fun! Highly recommended!

We rode with Mike in Kerala in 2014 and have just completed the Singalila Ridge, it was a wonderful authentic holiday. The days rides were designed to flow with all types of riding including urban single track, plus stops for tea, local food and photos. There were a couple of quite tough ones with challenging climbs, but we had support and time to stop and soak in the stunning views of Bhutan, India and Nepal major peaks, then the next day the major reward of long single track descents, unlike anything you would find in the UK. I am not the boldest person on very technical sections, but with Mike or one of his very competent guides leading and showing me the best lines, I rode things that I would probably have walked.
Accommodation and food were great, local, fresh and very delicious, evenings spent with a drink, a game and then to wake up to sunrise on the Himalayas.
Mike’s description of the rides, level of fitness and what to take are a true reflection of the holiday, we have had another fabulous experience and would be happy to recommend Mountain Bike Kerala.

My wife and me booked a two day 'easy' ride near Kuttukanam. We were collected from Allepeya and taken to our first hotel. From there we did an afternoon ride combining on and off road se tons. Neither of us are regular riders but the two guys that guided our tour were excellent at tailoring the intensity of the cycling to our abilities. We were accompanied over the two days by the car and driver which came in useful when my wife found the mountain roads too steep. She was able to place her bike on the car and meet us at the top of the uphill sections to join us again on the flat and downhills.
Mike organised the trip for us before hand and added an extra sightseeing day to the end of our tour. Our driver Jillmon was excellent and ensured we were not over charged by local endorsed as well as recommending and accompanying us to our sightseeing locations.
The Kerala countryside is stunning with a huge range of plants, flora and animals to appeal to every taste. This was a great experience and we thoroughly recommend you add this tour to your India experience.

Having ridden with Mike and team in Kerala in 2017, we wanted to do another trip with Mountain Bike Kerala as they are so good at what they do! This time we chose the Singalila Ridge in Northern India for a mountain biking epic adventure! As before, the trip did not disappoint, delivering everything we expected - fantastic mountain biking in beautiful places, great accommodation, excellent company and nothing too much trouble. Everywhere we went, the food was exceptional, despite being in some pretty remote locations at times, and we always received the warmest of welcomes. The trip involved transport by plane, train and automobile in addition to our own pedal power, and all went really well adding to the whole authentic experience. To be able to do we love in a place that is so different to home and have the experience we had is only possible because of Mike and his superb team including the guides that looked after us every day and all the other people that come into play throughout the trip. The trip was tough at times as we had to do a lot of climbing to reach the ridge but there was always back up and help at hand if needed so you never need to worry about anything. We feel really privileged to be able to do the trips that Mountain Bike Kerala offer and would have no hesitation in recommending them. Another fantastic experience; thank you

If you want to see the real off-the-beaten-track India, sign up for the Coast to Coast cycle tour. I did this trip in 2011 and have been wanting to return ever since. It is a great way to see, feel, smell, and experience South India. We rode nearly 1000k, stayed in an eclectic mix of accommodation, ate some amazing food, met some fantastic people, and visited fascinating temples. Mike and his team are friendly, knowledgeable, and nothing is too much trouble. It is a big bike ride, a holiday, an experience, and you’ll never forget it!
