This vast collection of steam and diesel locomotives, railroad cars, and street cars is a delightful way to spend a good portion of a day. My husband is a "foamer" - a true train lover - and he could have spent an entire 24 hours in there, but I enjoyed the museum too. The main building houses most of the... More

Great museum. A lot of old trains in very good shape and a great chance to ride in an old Montreal Tramway. A lot of fun for couples or the entire family. Very pleasant staff.

Went there with my grand chidren. They had no idea what they were going to see. and many of the artifacts left them cold. Of course this is not Disneyland, so you need to prepare and complete the explanations if you go with kids. Verry interesting though and that brought back a lot pf memories. It really worths the visit.... More

We had never heard of this museum before and we were looking for an alternative to the usual old Montreal and Biodome sites. We went on a Sunday so that we could do all three ride-on trains. There was lots to see, you can easily spend half a day. It was not too crowded and the kids could freely explore.... More

It reminded me of the old train yards and antiques of the Horseshoe Curve. I know I am dating myself. Good picture taking and friendly support along the way by those on staff.

The Canadian Railway Museum is a great place to do some trainspotting. So many different and amazing trains to see. You also get to ride an old 'hop-on-hop-off' train around the museum and also a miniature train is lots of fun to ride on. It is a little out of the city and it turns into a whole day trip... More

It was mildly interesting to see old trains and enter some parts of them. Reading about the history was also interesting, but this attraction is really best for kids and train buffs. It is kind of out of the way and unless you have children there are other more interesting venues -- in my view -- to discover in Montreal.

This train museum has lots of train cars and engines inside an air-conditioned building that you can see and get on and also has another building that's not air-conditioned with even more engines that are bigger engines. On the inside trains there are a couple cars with items for young kids to play with and then you can go on... More
