- Karin NSjuntorp, Sweden101 contributionsBeautiful Mae PhimBack to Mae Phim and to the best accommodation Rim Talay Guesthouse! Such comfortable beds!!! Located near the beach/restaurants etc. Clean and tidy. Super nice couple who own it - where nothing is impossible! Quiet and peaceful area! There is an ATM a short distance away, also massages in several places.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 February 2024
- Lynn L4 contributionsCalm Bangkok get awayBeautiful sand and sea, cleaner than many Thai beaches. There arent many tourist restaurants or beach bars here. Its a very quiet place, for local tourism. The few and far between restaurants are pleasant. Enough for a quiet few days away from Bangkok, not a party town and many be a disappointing destination if you travel here on holiday from Europe, but a nice get away from Bangkok.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 April 2024
- Peggy LOelde, Germany2 contributionsGreat timeGreat beach. Pure chill-out. We lived in the Ocean View Residential Community. Such nice people live in Mae Phim - like family. Everyone looks after each other. We often went along the beach together and celebrated New Year's Eve in the Tequila Bar.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 May 2024
- Britt B3 contributionsBest place in Mae PhimWe stayed in three different places in Mae Phim. Two larger, well-known hotels and a smaller guesthouse, namely RimTalay guesthouse. This place won by many points. If you want to live peacefully and comfortably, with incredibly nice and helpful owners (Swedish and Thai), you should choose this place. Small, 4 rooms, impeccably clean and with the option of fixing your own breakfast. If you walk across the road, maybe 80 meters, you come to a wonderful part of Laem Mae Phim beach. There are lots of places to eat next to the beach. There were many small, details, at RimTalay guesthouse, which can be quite as important. Mentioning a few here: very comfortable bed, in addition to air-conditioning there was also a floor fan, microwave oven, plates and cutlery, egg cooker, kettle, hooks on the walls to hang things on, extra water, for e.g. coffee in addition to the two bottles that we got every day, possibility to wash off the feet just outside the entrance. If you want a quiet and relaxing time in Thailand, RimTalay Guesthouse in Mae Phim has to be the ultimate place. We were here in November. The weather was very good, warm of course and the water temperature very pleasant, at least 30 degrees. We who were here are pensioners and have been to Thailand a few times before.Visited November 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 November 2024

I have long thought about visiting Laem Mae Phim to see the area, the beach, the facilities and understand what it is about. Firstly pleasantly surprised that it is just over a 2-hour drive from Bangkok.
The area is relatively quiet and whilst infrastructure exists, it is quite un-discovered by many people and there is little high rise development. The white sand beach is long. There are no facilities at the Western end so you can park and enjoy peaceful time on the beach. As you drive further east there are many vendors with umbrellas and chairs in addition to a good variety of restaurants directly on the beach, A little but further on (just a short drive) is another lovely beach with the exquisite Ao Khai restaurant, the lively and so cool, Drift Bar and others.
Laem Mae Phim offers simple Thai hospitality with a lovely , laid-back atmosphere. It's good for families and for couples. Not a great deal of entertainment but quite lively, especially at weekends.
Also an excellent base for exploring the neighbouring area with Mangrove swamps, temples, islands and Temples.

One of the longest stretch of beaches. Not very clean but not dirty too.
100s of shacks and restaurants on the beach to eat loxal food. Some serve weatern dishes too though with local flavours which is not bad.
Evening walk on the beach is really good. Thought during weekends it doea get overly crowded.

We loved it here. There are a lot of Swedish due to the history of this town who were happy to tell us about the place. Everyone was friendly and it was one of the safest places I’ve ever visited in Thailand. Extremely quiet and relaxing. Was very sad to leave and sad to leave the wonderful people. We stayed at the “this east resort” in a bungalow. Super clean and appropriate for what we needed during our stay. Good showers and comfy bed. My motto is “never go back keep travelling” however, I think I might find myself back here one day!!

Laem Mae Phim Beach in Rayong It is a peaceful beach with no beautiful views. There are many activities such as walking, cycling along the beach road, watching the view, enjoying the sea breeze, playing in the water. I think the water at this beach is the most fun to play. Lae beach is cleaner than other beaches in Rayong. Sit. Chill, relax, take photos, admire the atmosphere, eat fresh seafood. at Laem Mae Phim Beach There is a fresh seafood restaurant. There are many shops to choose from. Relax at a resort with a private beach

Stunning beach must be 3kms long. Ideal for swimming or leisurely walks. Very clean and some great restaurants and bars in the area. Very family /couple orientated. Excellent beaches either side such as Aokaoi and Coca Cola. Highly recommended for good safe area. Nothing like Pattaya. Weekend breaks or a number of weeks of relaxation.

This is a great place! The beach is long, shallow and clear. Very suitable for family with kids! The area is clean, tidy and tranquil, and not very touristic. The local community preserve the nature very well. So in addition to the beach, there are other natural sight seeing places to explore. Food and drink are great! You have local sea food restaurants and also some very nice western food restaurants and bars. There is a Nordic country expat community in the neighborhood, so you can find all kinds of services such as bakery, laundry, message, snookering and fishing tour, rental and etc...

We only had 9 nights for our stay this time, therefore were happy to discover Laem Mae Phim only a 2-hour-drive from Suvarnabhumi airport. Westerners are minority here, as this is a local vacation destination, especially during the weekends.
We rented a house in Cape Mae Phim and were more than pleased with our stay. A very modern Thai-style-house with private pool. The 7-km-beach in front of us allowed a healthy daily walk (14 km). Food in the tiny local restaurants and even more so the local seafood 'kiosks' on the beach were reasonable priced.
A great stay of apr 1 week of relaxation, and a very potential spot to kick off towards more nearby destinations (Angkor Wat, Koh Chang etc).
We needed a doctor during a religious bankholiday and the Mae Phim Clinic doctor (she then further away) got her nurse to drive us to a nearby village clinic and back home. We were overwhelmed by their hospitality.

This beach gives plenty of options depending on what you are looking for. I read some comments that talk about the trash on the beach, however I would say there is no more trash then is on Koh Samet beaches. There are less people, less foreigners and more open space to enjoy the surroundings. I spent 3 full days on the beach and loved every minute. It was 20 baht for a beach chair and I had plenty of space, unlike the beaches on Koh Samet, Phuket, Samui or Koh Chang. Take a day trip to Koh Samet if you want to try out that scene.

I've lived in Bangkok for many years and noticed the bad reviews below and thought it would be good to clear it up.
Mae Phim beach is relatively undiscovered beach (at least by foreigners), but is a popular long weekend holiday spot for Thai people. Normally this pristine beach with some of the best fine grained white sand is spotless. However, during the 5-6 long weekend Thai holidays it gets packed out by literally thousands of Thais in a relatively small area. They play and have fun etc. but the area does begin to resemble the remains of a rock concert as the weekend progresses. But I've also noticed how the government services do a meticulous job of cleaning every square centimeter immediately after the holiday weekend is over.
And in fact the Royal family of Thailand has maintained a residence at the west end of the beach for as long as anyone remembers. And also the King of Sweden has built a residence at the other end. So if you don't believe me, just figure those people have a lot of choices where to live and wouldn't have gone to the expense if this wasn't one of the nicest beaches in the world.
So give it a try and if it's a busy long holiday weekend, enjoy the fun. For the other 340 days of the year expect nothing but tranquil white sand and clear blue ocean…….
Enjoy

Akvariet i rayong kanske.

Written 11 May 2017
Testa!
