I was lucky enough to visit the Co-Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta a Bovino and I was enchanted by its beauty. The religious building is a real architectural jewel, which perfectly combines historical and artistic elements.
The frescoes, sculptures and stained glass windows are of extraordinary beauty and tell millennial stories. The atmosphere inside the basilica is very suggestive and invites reflection.
The basilica is an important place of worship for the local community, but it is also a must for tourists who want to discover the artistic and cultural beauties of the area.
I would highly recommend a visit to this basilica to anyone passing by Bovino.

Preserved and beautiful this basilica is beautiful. I came here because my family is from Bovino and my Nona told me about this church. There are family names on pews that you should browse when you come. It was quite exciting to sit in a pew and pray! I thanked God for my family and my rich family history in Bovino, my faith in God and that He gave me the means to come to Bovino. What could be more perfect!

Easy to find, a park bench on the left of the Square invites to make a short, or even longer, rest. I've visited Bovino between 2pm and 3pm, so,the silence was perfect, but impossible to get something to eat or to drink.

An even calmer Cathedral/Basilica in an already calm centro storico of Bovino. Many of the older locals seem to have left the old part of town to go and live in the new and flat area with less of climbing to do.

It has a beautiful Romanesque style facade, the church dates back to the tenth century and is located in a small square in the center.

Hi,
I am planning on visiting Bovino in May. My grandparents were born in Bovino and came to America around 1906 leaving most of their family in Bovino. I believe that they were married at this church in 1905. I would love to visit the church and find more information about my family.
