The beach is located at the northern end of the village and approximately in its middle is the jetty of the Bali fast boats from Padangbai. Twice a day we dock here. The sand is slightly darker and the bay is nicely situated. At the south end you have a view of the sunset, possibly with Bali view. However, the mountains often form clouds towards the afternoon, so you have to be lucky. The beach bars are also located here, with a large hotel at the north and south ends. At high tide you can swim well, at low tide rocks get in the way very quickly. The beach is cleaned regularly, but especially at low tide the many plastic wastes in the water stand out. That's a pity, partly because I saw a turtle near the shore twice. Beach vendors provide m. E. no problem.

Along Senggigi, many breathtaking coves and bays overlooking beautiful ocean can be found. Stop by some viewing points/ platforms if you can. However,
--> ALERT!!!
Tour touting on the beach can be bad. A guide under a tour company with the name of KOTASI Tour and Travel ( as stated on receipt), associated to ASITA, approached us and charged us higher than other tour operators. The unfriendly tour guide actually said some nasty things in front of us, not knowing we understand and speak Malay. He can be seen stationed at the beach front of Living Asia Resort and Spa and nearby.
---> Reference for day tour
you can get day a tour to Gili Islands, or waterfalls at the price of < Rp800k for 4 persons, they charged us Rp200-300K extra. He took us to batik 'factory' which was more like a home production place, between Mataram and the airport. Took us to another 'craft factory' mentioned it has the 'best price' despite we wanted to go to Mataram art market. The price was 10x higher than other places. We wasted few hours on the road just to travel from one factory to another.
Honesty is an issue. The guide we met certainly did not represent every guide in the company but this is intolerable and please spread the words of warning to your friends who are going to stay in Senggigi. Please avoid using their service. Options and bargains are available around Plaza Senggigi.
Where else, for art and craft lovers, search no more. The cheapest art and craft markets/ galleries/ and a smaller Art Market are located in Senggigi itself. Look for the biggest Bayan Lombok Gallery and the other one right opposite Square restaurant. you cant go wrong with the cheapest price there.

Go the art market, park your scooter and step to the beach. On the right hand you step to the beach of the Sheraton hotel, but before you reach this place, there is a snorkeling rental. That's where you enter the sea and will see lovely corals and a lot of different fish. Hit the button if this was useful for you. Thanks and enjoy!

In Indonesia, who do not know Senggigi Beach. Senggigi beach very famous in Indonesia, more than anything else in Lombok island, location of Senggigi Beach reside in. Lombok Island reside in archipelago of Nusa Tenggara, And represent the part of West Nusa Tenggara province. Lombok Island nearby as Bali Island. If in Bali Island there are Kuta Beach, Sanur Beach, Legian Beach,Dreamland Beach, etc. hence in Lombok Island there are balmy Senggigi beach. By of beauty, senggigi beach do not fail to respect with Kuta Beach.
Many people think Bali have too solid and crowded so that makeLombok island become a very good alternative, because its natural beauty not fail by Bali. More than anything else both very nearby. Lombok island offer resorts which very capture. Available also hotels at the price of varying, from costly until economic valuable hotel. Lombok island have separate fascination for tourist. Many tourist pass the time to enjoying sunset in Senggigi beach.
Besides beautiful beach, Senggigi also have the amaze under sea. Senggigi under sea is very beautiful, and tourist can do snorkling as satisfied as because its wave do not big. In Senggigi Beach you also can try to shar water sport. Don’t far from Senggigi Beach, there are Batu Bolong Gate, About 3 km from Senggigi Beach. This gate is a woke up gate above rock which located in coastal edge. From this place also seen Agung Mount in Bali Island. Don’t far from Senggigi Beach also there are artistic market, selling various unique goods as souvenir.

Was there for the 2nd and last time and in Lombok in general. There are hardly any tourists, which is the only advantage. Within 6 years, everything in Lombok has been paved with huge hotels and new restaurants. There are many building ruins and companies that have closed again. There are simply too few tourists and a huge oversupply. I was in Senggigi in 2017, and there was a lot of rubbish back then too. But the way it looks today is really disgusting. Everything is full of rubbish, on the beach and behind every corner or on the side of the road, but also in the sea. Everything is full of plastic. The locals hang around everywhere and try to sell something to the few tourists on the beach. In Senggigi on the beach, but also in general the whole place, as well as all of Lombok, are walking openly into disaster. Investments are being made in tourism at all costs, but there is simply no infrastructure for waste disposal or wastewater treatment. As much as I feel sorry for the locals, I can no longer recommend anyone to go to Lombok and especially not to Senggigi.

Very disappointed with the beach. Travelled extensively and this is not a top class beach in my view. Black sand and rubbish everywhere. Have constantly been surprised at the dirt and mess on beaches in Indonesia. Gili Air was better than Sengiggi but even that wasn’t great with rubbish around the island. Remember visiting Bali over 35 yrs ago and the sand was raked / in hindsight probably to get rid of the rubbish

This beach has black sand due to the Rinjani Volcano. However it is not really a beach from swimming or lounging. The currents are strong and there is not much room to lounge. It seemed more like a beach for locals to hang out, there were no tourists the day we went.I would not recommend going here.

Sad, deserted and plastic ridden place. The beach is strewn with plastic and rubbish everywhere. The hotels nearby look either closed down or on the brink of closure. Hardly any tourists in this place as its so dilapidated. We stayed at a 4 star hotel further north and quickly decided not to stay here, just walked through.
What a sad state. Unless the beach is cleared up, nobody will come here I feel. Business is struggling here by the looks of it.

I don't know what's wrong since from the picture I thought the beach will be a good beach. But what I found, the beach was dirty, things like plastics and bamboo or something scattered everywhere. It's scary to imagine walking there bare feet. So many boats on the coast, and local merchants selling foods and souvenirs.

I don’t often post many reviews but for Senggigi I feel compelled too. The main reason being there is a huge disconnect in the information and reviews on trip advisor vs my real world experience of Senggigi.
Senggigi has a beautiful backdrop, lush and green with a calm sea and a photo worthy sunset but that’s it! The town, which people refer to as touristy, is a thing of the past, the area is a complete ghost town and rough.
The infrastructure of the the town has come to a complete stand still. The shells of shops, market stands, restaurants and bars stand empty. A mere reminder of what used to be here. There are a couple of big name chain hotels and a few surviving restaurants, and I mean one or two that you’d actually consider eating in. To offer some perspective we’ve just traveled Vietnam from north to south, eating down the city back streets and at most roadsides but I wouldn’t eat in half of the restaurants in Senggigi.
The main income for the local people is transport, providing one way taxi rides or boat crossings straight out of Senggigi...say’s it all.
Unless you need Senggigi as a base for exploring the North of Lombok I would not advise staying here.

Have the local villages recovered from the earthquake or is there still a lot of damage to the roads and infrastructure?

I am heading to Lombok on Friday, 16 Sept. I like the sunset images you captured. Could you please let me know where (exact location) were those images taken from? I would to do the same. You see my husband has knee problem and I need to know if he is required to walk too far for that. Thanks a million for your response.

hi, if i'm not mistaken, it's at La Chill bar. it wasn't that far from one of the exit/entrance.
Written 9 September 2016
what type of shops are there
Written 17 February 2015
Depends where abouts you are. There are the usual restaraunts and 7/11 style convenience stores. You can catch a taxi to a modern 2 or 3 story shopping center thats nearby too.
There are some small clothes/ craft shops too.
