On our way from Hue to Hoi An, the tour group I was with made a rest stop here. Great views, including that of beaches and the city of Da Nang. It was a bit cold and windy here, so a hot cup of Vietnamese coffee hit the spot.

The view was undone by heavy rain although we saw enough to rate it as 3.
Went in a car north to south so on the wrong side of the road to get the best views. Would definitely recommend south to north by car. Would be much better in a coach as you would be higher up

Just wow for the super views of the city and sea from the top of Hai VAn Pass. We rented a motor bike and drove to the pass. hilly and curvy roads, be careful, but worth seeing the panoramic view from the top.

We were driving between Hoi An and Hue following Highway No.1. Such scenery all the way. However the Hai Van Pass is a worthwhile place to stop. I believe Hai Van means Ocean Clouds and a very well deserved name it has; as thick cloud banks congregate over the peaks. There are great views from the viewing platform of the curve of the Danang Bay.

A drive from Hoi An to Hue will take you through Da Nang and on to winding roads with stunning views of historic beaches. A stop at Hai Van Pass and you have vistas and a few war remnants.

James was our driver and guide. Had him aswell the day before for the DMZ and tunnels the day before. His English is fantastic. Went to fishing lagoon which we stopped for lunch. Restaurant our in the water was busy! Best seafood we had! Prices were very cheap! Then off to pass. Was raining lightly, but when is it not. Fantastic views. Then to Da Nang and monkey island. Long day but private tour in his big Toyota Fortuner made the trip a dream.

If you have the opportunity, rent a bike and travel from Da Nang to Hue Via Hai Van pass. You will not regret it. beautiful views, to take your breath away. The pavement is good just stay away from trucks and you will do fine.

Our tour bus used the Hai Van Pass to go from Danang to Hue. It is a mountain road with many twists and turns.
For buses or cars in the direction from Danang to Hue, it is best to sit on the right hand side of the vehicle as the views of the beaches and sea below are more on the right side.
11 km from the start of Hai Van Pass up the mountain is a parking area with shops at the French bunker. If you climb up the slope of rocks towards the bunker you can get an aerial view of the place. The downhill ride is 10 km, at the end of which is a scenery of bridges etc, a nice view for photos from the car/bus as you leave the mountain road.
During rainy season tour companies may use another road from Danang to Hue as it may be considered dangerous to use Hai Van Pass.

Visited several places, fisher village, oyster farming, golden bridge (bana hill) marble mountain, the pass itself.
It was a very pleasant and smooth ride.
