About
A charming, rustic cottage overlooking the vines is home to our small boutique vineyard and cellar door. Premium wines, all locally grown and crafted, coupled with old-fashioned service and a friendly smile is what you’ll find at our popular spot that welcomes dogs in the outdoor dining area. Enjoy a delicious platter of wine-friendly fare, or choose from the range of gourmet pies (some made with Ugly Duckling wines), while you relax and soak up the fantastic views across the Swan Valley to the Perth hills. Guests charmed by the food and wine can grab a souvenir including Ugly Duckling Wines cheese boards and glasses, olives, and wine produced from the vineyard. We also have live music here every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Had a $50 cheese board and a bottle of shiraz here,the wine was lovely but the cheese board was very disappointing. Have been here many times and had numerous cheese and meat boards but they seem to be shrinking.I love the ugly duckling and really enjoy spending time there but don't like paying $50 for about $10 worth of food.

Really sorry to hear this. We haven't changed the portion sizes on the cheese board, so I just don't know what has happened in the kitchen or whether something has been inadvertently left off. Please feel free to speak to any staff member at the time so that we can attend to the issue and hopefully fix it. Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it.

We’ve been several times to the ugly duckling and we always get a lovely greeting. Wines are very good. I love the Chenin Blanc. Food is very nice to graze on and watch the world go by. The addition of the gelato is great, lovely flavours of ice cream and good coffee. We took three bottles home and made the mist of a bottle with lunch. Well worth a trip on a lovely sunny day.

We passed through with friends from overseas today, we have been before and love the service and there are always new wines to try. The hostess was chatty and humorous, we learnt more about Swan Valley wine than we thought possible and felt like we made a new friend. Our UK guests loved it too and we left with a sweet bubbles and also a chenin. Always a great spot to stop at.

This was our second stop, the staff were all very friendly and informative. was a nice place, the only thing we would of changed was to pass by in the afternoon (on a Saturday) as there was a lot of huge groups of young people, either hens do, birthdays etc it was only 11am and there was already so many obnoxious people, so if you are serious about your wines and would like to not be disturbed don't go on a Saturday morning. however the ugly duckling is somewhere to definitely stop, so don't let the big crowds to deter you.

It's great to see that our staff were friendly and informative, even though we were busy. Yes, we take the large groups early in the day, generally for a one hour booking, so between 11am and 12pm it would have been very busy. Sunday afternoon is a also a lovely time to visit. We really appreciate you recommending us.

Part of wine tour and a surprising little winery with a nice selection of wines. Beautiful grounds and stunning views of the hills. Support a local wine producer and go and sample their wines. I'd recommend their Bubbly Duck a perfect summer wine.

We have visited several times over the last 18 months. Joanne and the team have always been very friendly and helpful. Lots of tables to eat and drink on the grassed area, and a covered area just in case the weather is not so kind. Lovely selection of wines to taste, free of charge. The oaked Chardonnay is fabulous, as is their bubbles.
Since we were last there, they have changed their pie supplier! There is a definite improvement with the steak and mushroom now having chunky meat in it! The Asian slaw is excellent. It is also great to see the historic farm equipment on site, with children (and adults) able to sit on the tractor.

On Saturday my husband & I visited Ugly Duckling winery with my mum & sister who were visiting from England. The owners were both so friendly & chatty as was the young man who initially greeted us. My family enjoyed a tasting, I was designated driver & was offered chilled water, & we bought several bottles of wine.
We were told about the wines & advised the order in which to taste which was helpful.
While enjoying a drink on tbe lawn we saw some lovely looming platters go by & would have stayed for lunch had we not booked elsewhere. This was not our first visit, we have bought friends from overseas too. We will definitely be back.

Visited the winery with my family of 8 and it was a pleasant experience. We did a self-drive walk-in and the staff was very welcoming. The wine tasting was excellent. We hope this young winery keeps the good stuff going for many more good years. Thank you.

We stopped in here to sample some wine and grab a quick lunch. Some really nice pieces on their food menu and a few good wines on offer. We ended up buying a bottle of the Summer Harvest.
Very much a laid back and casual environment which is good when wine tasting with kids in tow.
The grounds are well kept and some nice spots for photos.
Lots of seating so can accommodate groups of any size.
The staff was friendly and easy to interact with.
Worth a stop if you have the time.

I visited today with my daughter (hardly a teen, but unable to select anything else!) I am visiting from the UK and on previous trips have been to the larger wineries, but this was such a friendly, informal experience I am so glad we decided to call in to Ugly Duckling. Wines were lovely, bought a bottle of Bubbly Duck and had a tasting plate. Quite busy with live music, couples, families & dogs, but still plenty of space to sit and enjoy. Thank you all at Ugly Duckling!

Wanting to have my birthday at a winery this year and was wondering if I had to pay a fee on visiting this location with possibly 40-50 people.
And wanting to have lunch and stuff there aswell so is lunches available at this location? Could you also bring your own drink aswell as tasting wine there?
Lastly roughly how much would it be to have a birthday party there for that many people?
