The superb gardens at Ness on the Wirral Peninsular, overlooking the Dee Estuary were founded in 1898 by Arthur Kilpin Bulley; a Liverpool cotton merchant with a passion for gardens and plant collecting. Today the stunning 64 acre gardens have won a succession of awards including Large Attraction of the Year for Cheshire and Liverpool City Region and coveted RHS Gold Medal display garden at the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park. The Horsfall Rushby Visitor Centre provides a warm welcome to this Cheshire Garden of Distinction. Ness Botanische – display garden by TV presenter and garden designer Chris Beardshaw and Making Waves garden by award winning designer Pippa Probert. Our newly launched restaurant The Garden Kitchen serves quality locally sourced food along with the Garden Grub kiosk in the garden. An extensive events programme runs throughout the year.

Fantastic visit to these wonderful gardens. Plenty to do and see. Walks in countryside or laid out gardens. Lovely restaurant with good efficient service and much better price and selection of food than equivalent National Trust establishments. Will definitely visit again in the spring.

Visited mid Sept on beautiful sunny day. Like other reviewers, found that a lot of the plants are not named, which frustrated those of our group who are novice gardeners. Extensive gardens to wander around, and wonder how many staff would be needed to keep...More

Beautiful botanical garden... Visited on a wet and cloudy day but still loved it! I even used the romantic summer house by the rock garden area to "pop up the question" aaand she said "Yes!". Unforgettable experience and we would love to visit it again!

As I am not a member of staff at Ness I would struggle to answer this question. Try contacting them online. My own suggestion based on a Rowan I have in my garden would be September.
