Got home today from a visit to Killary sheep farm. My partner and I both enjoyed this a lot. Tom, the shepherd answered all are questions. It was interesting seeing the dog herding the sheep and I was impressed by the communication between Tom and is dog was wonderful to see. My favorite part was to cuddle with the lamb... More

Killary Sheep Farm was a highlight of my time in Ireland. Though the time was brief, about an hour, it was just right; and it was authentic, down-to-earth, and memorable. We drove from our hotel in Renvyle to see the sheep dog demonstration. It was wonderful. I grew up with Border Collies and I was amazed by this demonstration! Tom and his dog Roy were a joy to watch. Roy herded the sheep far into the pasture and through several gates per Tom's almost whispered instructions. Amazing! The farm itself... More

My friends and I visited Tom and Roy (the dog) at the farm last week. How interesting, fun and enjoyable! The view was beautiful and we learned how skilled these dogs can be. The management of a sheep farm is no small task and gave us a new appreciation of the sheep farming owners. Thanks Tom!!

Absolutely worth the time and diversion. I think we got a true insight into rural life (both past and present) in Ireland, along with an excellent demonstration by a working Border Collie. Tom, the farmer, was happy to answer a multitude of questions and we also saw how peat was dug. Go.

As so many others have pointed out, this experience is like no other. Amidst the stunning Killary Fjord is Tom's working Irish farm. Tom himself is true and real, with the determination of a man who knows hard work while also being very pleasant and welcoming. His dogs have their own strong personalities as well. We went to the farm as a family and got to see a young sheep herding dog in training round up an entire herd and bring them to a small corral. Tom, the farmer,sheared one of the sheep and let the children in the group help as he very gently guided their hands. We got to feed the orphaned lambs... More

Tom's farm is set in a beautiful setting, with great views over the lake and hills. It was lightly raining when we arrived, and Tom provided all the needed rain gear before we headed out for the demonstration.
