Natural beauty is a little ruined by a very dirty prom. There's an abundance of dog poo, litter and generally shabby - the whole way along. It stinks. The council is now charging for parking but need to make if worthwhile with street cleaners, painters, upgraded facilities and a dog warden. I'd skip a swim here and head to Clahane closeby.

The beach here is beautiful. The prom is lovely, there's (paid) parking directly at the beachfront and there's great amenities like toilets and a playground. It's frustrating that dogs aren't allowed on the beach at all during the day in summer, even on leads, but the dog waste bins are plentiful and have free poo bags along the prom and upper path. The views across to Liscannor are lovely. It's a great beach for surfing, and swimming, but heed the safety warnings. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards during the season. Well worth a visit.

Not at all a secluded beach- it's right by a giant car park by the center of town. Upside is it is easy to park and visit both the beach and nearby restaurants or shops. Downside is that it doesn't feel as special as other beaches along the Atlantic Wild Way. But it is quite large so even with all the surfing groups, families, tour buses, and even school groups, there was still room to have your own spot on the sand.

What a beach. Long, wide and stoneless. Great for walkers, surfers and kids. Loads and loads of parking(if you can find a spot). Surrounds tires and shabby, people friendly. Public loos fine and loads of choice for places to eat. Try Spoony's fish & chips. Down side is its so unbelievably busy. It's time restricted for dog walkers and traffic is crazy.

Surf lessons available at the beach. Support the local community by shopping in great art and accessories shops. For some more family fun, travel about 30 mins by car to Kilrush Aquapark. My son & friends loved it. Nearby Kilkee beach also worth a visit.

Lovely stop off the highway between Cliffs of Moher and Limerick. Showed up just in time for the sun to break and watch kids and dogs play in the surf. Highly recommend taking a few minutes out of your journey to enjoy this gem.

What a lovely place to visit. The beach was quite busy when we were there with surfers. If you like to sit and watch the waves and surfers this is a great place to be. The main town is like any other in Ireland. We only stayed here for a few hours as touring the area. It is well worth stopping off here just to see the beach area.

I looked for a rubbish bin here and couldn't find one.
Then , I found six of them against each other ( beside a playground!!!)so you couldn't put any rubbish in them.
This promenade has revenue of €400000 per year for the council yet they can't even provide a basic service for all the people.
Absolutely disgraceful.
The council idiot that looks after this area should be fired and the wage would easily cover services costs.

Even though the weather wasn't 100%, there were plenty of people around and many surfing. Nice area to walk & the sea itself turbulent & magnificent.

Gorgeous beach, about 2km in length with a higher path walk on the dunes for when the tide is in.
Lots of surfing and activity, v raw and energetic coastline.
The beach is within a stones throw from the town and the views are amazing across to Liscannor.
Bring an extra layer! The wind is strong :)

Yes, I have seen horses being ridden on the beach and you can get down via a ramp, but the beach is not huge (not miles of coastline) but a large bay.
