Stumbled across this site en route to other scenic spots / really thought we were just going to visit some caves. Well.... after trudging from the parking lot through the largest dunes we’ve ever seen, you get to this most fabulous beach - one of...More

We were recommended Maghera Beach (pronounce: ma-gra) by a local, who said it was a fairly unknown beach. We drove to the beach and on the way we saw a beautiful waterfall as a bonus! At the parking spot you pay 3€ for parking (which...More

There is not much to say except this is simply a stunning beach between 2 headlands. After a path from the car park a raised wood deck brings you across part of the Dunes stopping at the edge of the magnificent and huge usually empty...More

Golden sands and wide smooth beach after a short dune walk from the car park attended by a local. The drive out is beautiful too and the beach doesn’t disappoint, though low tide is best to access the caves on the southern end of the...More

We visited on a sunny day in the middle of June - 4 o'clock in the afternoon, and were the only people there. Beautiful white sand and unusual geology. Found the caves to be rather underwhelming, but that didn't distract from the experience of the...More

Maghera is one of my favourite places to visit since I was a young child, heading out on adventures to the caves. A beautiful sight for both young and old. Would greatly recommend for people to visit at low tide to get the wonderful opportunity...More

Worth the trip! Plan to go at low tide...beach/caves are a fair walk from the parking lot (which is pay to park - 3 Euro). We stayed for a few hours and had a picnic lunch on the beach after exploring the landscape...it was a...More

This beautiful beach sweeps across the bay, the sand is fine and the sea clear. Beware however that the warnings about dangerous to swim really mean it. The sea level can change rapidly without big waves and the firmness of the sand is variable. Don't...More

There were some boardwalk-type walks that got you out through the dunes, but to actually get out over the dunes and to the caves, it is all heavy sand. Depending on the time of day if you are able to get over the dunes, the... More

There is a parking lot at these coordinates: 54.762501, -8.527440 From there, walk up the road toward a lone farm house. When you get there, there will be a gate to your right. That is the entrance to the beach.
