Circle K Waterville.
Really unpleasant staff. Stopped for coffee and wouldn’t allow use of toilet till I paid. Explained my wife was getting coffees and ice cream that she was about to pay. No, no pay no toilet.
So paid in advance so she’d give me key to use toilet.
Then no receipt for cash payment?
Toilet was clean etc.
Rude and unwelcoming encounter.

I see some questionable reviews of Waterville Beach and I can tell they are from people that think the beach near the Charlie Chaplin statue is "Waterville Beach." There are six (I think) beaches in Waterville!

The beach at the Promenade is the one most tourists see (Waterville has 2,000 houses, people)! and is oK, but really only VERY impressive at low tide. It's VERY wide and sandy at low tide - I've put some pix up that show the beach. Huge expanses for running, volleyball, exploring. Great shorebirds in the morning. It goes out as much as 50 meters PAST the end of the boat ramp at low tide. Some days the water is crazy and surf-able. Some days it's like a lake and easy to Stand Up paddle board.

The beach at the Golf Links is what most would call Waterville Beach. It was heavily damaged in Feb 2014's hurricane but has come back fantastically!!! It's huge. It's gently sloping. It's soft fine sand. And has seashells. Great for kids. At its most crowded it's deserted compared to, say, California beaches.

Lohar (or Loher) Beach near Loher Fort is small, private, and has Crystal clear water for snorkeling. I would recommend it for little kids - stronger currents. It's not "private" private - anyone can walk through the field to get there. It's private in that it's often deserted! Nice!

Don't judge Waterville by what you see within 500 yards of parking your car! There are hiking trails, walking routes, biking routes, surfing spots, beach fishing, lake fishing, wind surfing, canoeing kite surfing, sun tanning... You get the picture!

Suitable for family with kids, couple (of course), and picnic. It has wonderful views across to the Dingle Peninsula. Such a stunning beach and waterfront area. Cafes and bars can be found nearby so you can spend your lazy time here waiting for the sunset. Also, the sunset was just amazing and we're lucky to capture the beautiful one.

There is a narrow stip of sand that runs along the promenade, this consists of mostly large stones and rocks, which act as the towns sea defences. However further around the coastline, in front of the golf course, is Waterville Beach, which boasts lovely fine sand and no stones! Being too far for coach visitors to walk to quickly, it sees few if any visitors during the day and you can easily have the entire beach to yourself, with a wonderful panoramic view. If you have the time, it is well worth making the effort to visit, although there are no facilities here, so you'll have to walk back to town if you don't remember to pack a picnic, or need facilities.

Waterville is a very remote part of Ireland and takes a long time to get there from Tipperary or Cork. Very wild landscape. The journey there has majestic and breathtaking scenery.

Stones then some sand. Quiet seafront. Picnic benches and grassy area. Toilets on the front. Safe place to stop with children. Cafes and bars on the road nearby.

What a stunning beach and waterfront area. Waterville should be extremely proud of such a well kept amenity. We had three absolutely stunning days here and it was just beautiful.
Well done Waterville!
