Great atmosphere and great pints. Not only that they don't rip of the tourist. Oldest pup in ireland apparently. Saw dust on the floor too. Good smoking area too.

Just a quick visit to here after it was recommended by a friend. We went during the day so there was plenty of seats inside. Really nice authentic bar with nice pints of Guinness! Friendly staff too, will definately return!

Loved it! I had a flight of locally made brews and the history of this place is all over the walls- literally! they have a piece of the original pubs wall on display, it's very cool.

Turf fire and a great tasting Guinness. Also a lovely beer garden outback. The pub has been around since 900 A.D., so they must be doing something right.

Great place for a pint! The locals were fun and friendly to chat with. Definitely a must see if you are in town. They don't serve food though, as some places advertised.

We spontaneously stopped in Athlone on our way back to Dublin and found some very interesting spots in this town. Beside the castle we found Sean's bar, which is supposedly the oldest pub in Ireland built in something like 900ad. A couple of locals seemed...More

Hi Grainne, Thanks for your enquiry. On a Saturday night we do not hold reserve areas due to the size of the pub and the crowds that visit the pub on a Saturday night. We can hold a space up to around 6/7pm if that suited... More
