Jerpoint Abbey was closed when we visited in January 2019 for repairs, we think. The location is on a busy road with dangerous bends so we were very surprised to find that the car park was closed, rendering it almost impossible to park to have...More

We enjoyed exploring the Jerpoint Abbey ruins. These ruins are a bit more "off the beaten path" than others in Ireland. We had the place to ourselves, with the exception of one other couple and enjoyed exploring. Worth a stop if in County Kilkenny.

Stopped on our way out of Kilkenny in the morning. Sun was shining for a change but the temperature was a bit chilly. Amazing ruins. Hard to imagine how structures like this were built and are still standing after all these years.

Mary (PSW) provided an interesting slice of Irish history in this abbey. Thomastown was a great stop as well.

The highlights of the Abbey are the numerous examples of stone carvings throughout the place. You'll find renderings of men and women from all walks of life etched in the small arches that line what I suppose were hallways or open pathways. There are also...More

Surrounded by open farmland in the middle of nowhere this ancient well preserved-abbey is more extensive than most we saw; with a cloister running around the open courtyard, outlines of the other rooms, and a stairway to go up and view the landscape. We were...More

This is a great stop. It is beautiful and we were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves! We did this as part of a day drive from Kilkenny visiting Rock of Dunamase, Rock of Cashel, Cahir castle etc. It was a great day!

It was a drizzly day but off the beaten path we found a jewel in Jerpoint Abbey. In the land of saints and scholars, with 12th to 16th century cloister arcade and unique carvings. A guide walked us through the abbey and the grounds telling...More

Hi Edward, they have a small centre on-site and they may be able to help you. It is run by the Office of Public Works, OPW. if you search online they should have a contact email you could use.
