The course was well maintained and the views are spectacular. The weather was a bit iffy but hey, you don’t come to Ireland for the weather

An absolutely stunning golf course with unique layout aling Bantry Bay. Great play experience, even under challenging weather conditions. 4-5 super instagrammable holes. Professionally maintained and very friendly staff. Would come here again any day.

We arrived by cruise ship at the port. I had checked Google Maps, and it looked like the club was only 1 mile from the port. Apparently, that was probably the 10th hole! Bottom line it was a 2 1/2 mile walk, but a beautiful day.

Everyone at the clubhouse was very friendly and got us set up with rental clubs. We arrived with no equipment and even had to purchase balls which I was nervous about because my husband tends to lose quite a few. Suffice it to say we actually ended up losing only eight which is very good for us! Later in our trip, I learned that this club is considered half links half Parkland , it was gorgeous and we have played many courses in Hawaii and it rivaled even Kapalua.

We ended up walking the 18 holes, and they felt sorry for our long walk to the course so they drove us back to the cruise ship terminal! This was probably the most memorable thing we did on our cruise of the British Isles. Prices were very reasonable too.

This course has got to be one of the best courses in Ireland on the basis of cost/benefit. My wife and I played in the Irish mist (with occasional real rain) and we were virtually the only players on the course. For Euros 50 pp plus additional for a battery trolley, it was way above expectations. Also, unusual for a top course in Ireland you only have to pay once your arrive so you can cancel without cost in bad weather. I have an 11.5 GA handicap and made the mistake of playing the front nine from the back tees thinking it was 6100 yards. In fact, unusual for Ireland it was 6100 metres! Too long for a 76 year old so I switched to the white tees for the back nine which still managed 3300 yards. From a challenging inland course on the front nine, parts of the back nine ran along the Bay. Memorable sights through the clouds and a welcoming Club Manager and Superintendant made for a great day. This was our 6th round in Ireland on this trip having played many times in 3 previous visits. Although the tees were a bit rough the greens were the best we had played on. Well worth a detour.

Its in a scenic location but also very exposed to wind around the 9, 10 and 11 holes which are set on a headland over Bantry Bay. Jacket required. There is also the problem of very undulating greens which make it impossible to 2 putt if you're in the wrong place. There is a lot of walking from greens to tee, I think the 6th tee in particular. The 6th is a very difficult hole for the unknowing.
Its a long and challenging course and its generally in good order.

Bantry Bay Golf club 23 April
My Dad and I played Bantry Bay Golf club this morning. We had the course to ourselves! We were looking forward to playing this course, but we were left very disappointed as the course is in extremely poor condition. The greens are very poor , uneven, patchy and in need of a cut. The fairways are also in need of a cut as the grass is very long. The teeing areas are also in poor condition, uneven and also with long grass. . This scenic course overlooking Bantry Bay has some great holes and has great potential but is currently a long way from achieving the most basic of standards. We paid a green fee of €40 through a tee time web site. This fee was far to expensive for a course in very poor state, however things could have been worse, the fee advertised on the club website is €60, which is outrageous. I hope that Bantry Bay sorts out these problems very soon and plays to its amazing potential. Otherwise I would not waste time or money.
