Beautiful country with views that are spectacular! Well marked trails, some more difficult than others, the views are worth it. Roadside hiking reveals beautiful details of the land with its wild flowers and houses.

The Peninsula juts out far to the west from Bantry and its bay into the Atlantic Ocean. The scenery varies from rolling deep green rain-washed hills to dramatic rocky clefts plunging into the ocean. There are few human habitations to break natures sway. An enchanting...More

Sheep's Head is a timeless place. As you travel West along the peninsula you relax more and more. The views all along the way are special. There is good food in Durrus, Ahakista and Kilcrohane. The pubs are friendly, and the shop and post office...More

We drove the Sheep's Head Peninsula road after our kayaking plans were shelved due to bad weather. Beautiful scenery the whole way. Just when you think things couldn't be more picturesque another stunning vista is around the next corner. The roads are narrow with just...More

To truly experience the Sheep’s Head Peninsula you must drive out to the point and make the hike out to the lighthouse. Depending on your starting point, you may want to allow at least a half-day for the drive and hike. Drive to Kilcrohane then...More

On the Wild Atlantic Way, beautiful wild scenery, stiff cliffs, horrible weather, and even worse roads...loved every knuckle blanching second!!!

The roads are narrow that get you to the end point but that's part of the charm of driving the Wild Atlantic Way. This is as spectacular and the rest of the coastline in this area. Unfortunately on the day we drove it the sea...More

Wonderful scenic drive, great cafe at the lighthouse end. Pity it was so misty. Walk from the cafe to lighthouse well marked, undulating route. Took 35 minutes one way.

When you eventually get to the end of the road, where there is a small car park, turning area and cafe, there is still a 2km rough track walk (up and down!) to the lighthouse on the headland. We visited on a grey day so...More

Nice area, good walks (although not if you have dogs - the whole area is very dog UNfriendly), and when the sun is out, it's really lovely.

Hi Ships Head is fantastic for cycling. We stayed there two time (as walkers) and always could watch cycling tourists making there way. The streets are calm with good ground, sometimes you have to climb little hills. On top... More
