We enjoyed this 5k looped walk.
The views of Derrigimlagh bog and the Twelve Bens mountain backgrop were beautiful. The plants lovely too.
The history about the Crash landing site of 1st transatlantic non stop flight in 1919 of Alcock&Brown plus hustory of Marconi radio tramsmittion was very interesting.

Did this looped walk through the bog with information points along the way explaining what was there & photos of the Marconi station & associated buildings. Information also on the landing site of the first transatlantic flight by Alcock & Brown 100 years ago! The really is an amazing place for people of all ages.

Can't recommend this place highly enough , just outside Clifden it's one not to be missed .
Lots of information about Allcock and Browne and Marconi, points of interest are well signed throughout the walk .
The scenery is spectacular and the fact that it's a looped walk is great .
Definitely well worth visiting !

The first non-stop transatlantic flight landed a few hundred yards from here. The walk though the bogs is also very interesting.

Family walk around the Derrigimlagh site. Each time we go we learn something new. So well put together. And its free. Well worth a visit to see where Marconi had his transatlantic transmission site and also where Alcock and Brown landed their plane on the first atlantic crossing. Just amazing at the set up that was there in the early 1900s and the facilities they had long before the rest of the country. Well worth a visit. At a reasonable pace it took us a little over an hour to walk.
