The American reviewers are not wrong on this one. I had to go see it myself as I thought the reviews were a bit too over the top. Sure enough, Bridgetown priory is absolutely amazing. I couldn't get over the place, its huge! the kids...More

This is way off the beaten path but well worth it. Where else can you have extensive grounds of ancient ruins all to yourself. Really lovely and quite. Don't miss. You could have a great picnic there if you thought ahead, but we didn't!

We got this place all to ourselves for an afternoon and I could have spent multiple days returning. It was a beautiful heap of ruins, but gave you a wonderful feel for the place.

We discovered this site just googling around during our lunch break after visiting Cobh. It did not disappoint. The views driving in from Cobh were breathtaking. You could drive right up to the priory. No one was there but us and a couple of farmers...More

This ruined monastery is worth a visit if you're in the Castletownroche area. There are signposts along the road, it was easy to find. You'll most likely have the place all to your self, apart from the wheeling crows. It's a beautiful site, tucked in...More

Off the beaten track - don't rely on your sat nav to find it. Ask locally for directions. Calming and quiet. We were the only people there.
