It isn't a huge Abbey but there are several really interesting carvings on the columns. There is an excellent self-guided tour sheet that gives a lot of information about the Cistercian monks.

This place was beautiful and is being kept in great shape. The history and the detail of the stone is amazing. Definitely stop by if you are passing through or in the area.

We came across the Boyle Abbey while driving north on the road less traveled during our vacation. They have done some work on the Abbey to help maintain it including adding a viewing "lean to" to allow more light into the ruins. This was a...More

Interesting ruined abbey (later converted into Elizabethan barracks) in the small town of Boyle. Helpful staff at the visitor centre a useful two-side guide.
