Some excellent trails follow the course of the River Wye through the Dales area. Details of these can be found online easily, and provide useful maps and even step-by step instructions and directions. Need to time visit for when the River is not too high;...More

Simply beautiful spot to stop and just drink up the views and tranquillity. Listen to the silence and try and spot the fish gilding by in the crystal clear water.

This is just the most gorgeous area to walk in whatever weather, but this weekend with temperatures very high this round walk that took in a large section of the Wye also afforded significant shade for about half the walk. Could tell the river is...More

We were driving up to York from Bath and stopped by this picturesque village for lunch. What a visual treat! Clean air and good food. Worth it

Monsal Head is one of the finest view in the Peak Park. The view point looks down on a river valley and a railway viaduct. That doesn't sound inspiring but see it for yourself. If your fit there are many walks in the area.

We had a very pleasant walk by the river in Bakewell. The birds are clearly well fed - you can get duck food in a shop just around the corner from the old bridge which is much better for them than bread. The river was...More

Whether visiting by car, on foot, or by bike; this is a stunning place to walk & admire; especially from the viewpoint at Monsal Head, or from the viaduct on the Monsal Trail.

The part of the Wye that runs through Bakewell town is extremely pretty with a couple of bridges across - one covered with padlocks/lovelocks. There is an abundance of waterfowl - ducks, Canadian geese, moorhens, swans - and some absolutely huge fish in the shallows....More

Lovely river meandering through the landscape. A feature in the landscape and not to be missed. Rivers are navels in culture.

A better bet would be to park in Baslow and walk around the Chatsworth estate. That's better for pushchairs and there are several excellent pubs and restaurants in Baslow.
