This little museum is certainly well worth a visit & good value too. The introductory video explained the house's history well & the staff (volunteers?) were very welcoming and knowledgeable. The museum is full of unexpected treasures, not least a Tudor toilet. We certainly enjoyed...More

The staff were all warm and welcoming and very accommodating. Although the peak district contains many outdoor tourist attractions this museum is indoors and great for rainy days. The place itself is fairly small but packed full of interesting and hands on exhibits. Children are...More

We really liked this interesting little museum. Set on a hill behind the church (also worth a visit), the house is fascinating in its own right, but it's also packed with fascinating artefacts from all periods. A thoroughly engaging collection.

This small museum was recommended by someone in the Tourist Information Centre and it didn't disappoint. The house itself has an interesting history and only just survived demolition - all described in the introductory video. The collections are quite eclectic and I particularly enjoyed the...More

Hidden away, but well worth a visit. Costs next to nothing which is rare these days. Lovely way to spend an afternoon.

The visit to the house is one of my great and beautiful experiences in England. I can feel like I lived in that time of the history. Being grateful for such wonderful preservation of the house!

I've wanted to visit for sometime and today I made it. I didn't have high expectations especially as I was aware the entry cost was only £4.50, my expectations were exceeded. This is a Tudor house which has additional sections from 17c and 18c. You...More

An interesting little place. All manner of local history, some excellent displays and some less so. Compared to top modern museums it's a bit dated and probably not that exciting for kids but still worth a visit. Not expensive.

So pleased that you found the museum interesting. We do have lots of hands on activities for children and simple pleasures like the rat trail which children of all ages love. Tickets are great value as they last for a year.

As others have commented, this is one of those little gems you might otherwise miss. Our main reason for coming to the area was the stunning Chatsworth, and we had intended to do Haddon Hall the next day. However, the hall was shut so we...More
