The Causeway Coastal Route is a designated scenic tourist drive around the coast of Northern Ireland between the cities of Belfast and Londonderry. The route follows the coast and takes you to several major tourist attractions along the way including The Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle, The Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery and the Glens of Antrim. There are also nine scenic loop roads that run off the main Coastal Route. These are: Islandmagee, Slemish Mountain, Glenariff, Glendun, Torr Road, Glenshesk, Bann Valley, Binevenagh Mountain and the Roe Vally. One of these (Torr Scenic Road)is quite narrow so do be careful if your not used to our small roads, one tip is to pull in your wing mirrors on the Torr Road.

Do I spoil it for myself or let everyone know how beautiful it is?

I'll be honest to say we live here half the year. It is naturally beautiful. It is still reasonably quiet by global/national standards. I love it - I'd like to keep it secret... read more

Very scenic and a quick stop at Dunluce Castle is worthwhile. We didn't plan on driving this way but we're happy that we did.

A magnificent scenic coastal drive from Londonderry to Larne. Cliffs, beaches, lookouts. The highlight being the Giants Causeway - a dramatic collection of basalt columns. Many places of interest to visit along the way providing accommodation, meals and good coffee.

So much to see and do along this coastline. If the weather is kind (it was this time) the views to the Scottish Isles are spectacular. Closer to you, the coast line varies from expanses of sandy beaches, to rugged towering cliffs with crashing waves. The Causeway, the castles, the rope bridge and the bays are just a few of... More

This route is well worth taking. There are lots of places to stop for taking photographs. OK, the local traffic may be in a hurry and a tad impatient behind us slow moving tourists but at least there is ample places to pull over and let them continue on their business. Just take your time to look at the scenery.

We have done this costal route several times and it never disappoints. The scenery is breathtaking and it is nice to take a pit stop in cushendun or cushendall for coffee. A drive not to be missed.

Causeway Costal Route is one of the best parts of Nortern-ireland! Nature is spectacular and views are great! Some big sights along the road is Giants Causeway, Dungluce Castle, The Dark Hegdes, Bushmill Destillery and of course a lot of spectacular nature, like Fair Head (where you can walk and see a extraordinary beautiful part of the coast). I must... More

We have trialled extensively and Route 66 and the Californian coastal route are among some of our drives. However, this route which takes you right next to the sea is one of those drives that you should have on your must do list.
