If you like seeing stone circles and are in the area it's well worth a visit here, however it's a rural location which although easy enough found requires a car to visit and is near no public transport at all.

This was a lovely quiet spot to stop for a picnic on the way though to Omagh from Cookstown. The history was well explained on the boards around the site and ample parking.

This is a set of interconnected stone circles in an isolated spot. Not a huge amount is known about its history but there are several helpful information boards around the site which explain what is certain and what is conjecture. The beauty of the place...More

Stone circles interest me - if they don't interest you then you can probably find somewhere else to go as Beaghmore is a fair bit off the beaten track. What makes Beaghmore different is that there are several circles and they are close together (and...More

Mysterious ancient site uncovered from a peat bog, although not much information it's all about what it doesn't say opposed to what it does , well worth a visit for those into such things

Seven in total ... (that they have found so far) ..... Raison d'être ? ... not obvious. Some circles are in pairs, but not all (aligned to solstice .. or other astrological markers). Another theory is that they relate to comets. They date from the...More

Once again drawn to the stones, this is the real history of this area 2000 BC! Visit on a good starlit night, groundsheet, gaze at the sky with virtually no modern intrusion. We are so fortunate to be able to still walk amongst the stones,...More
