We walked down to the canal where it passes through the town of Skipton, very pretty and some lovely views. There are plenty of boat trips plus seeing a lot of canal boats passing through. Quite an insight into a historical area. There are Bars...More

Parked near Leeds and Liverpool canal in Gargrave and enjoyed a pleasant stroll along the tow path. Very quiet stretch there so had it to myself most of my walk. Lovely views of Dales along the way

Living on a narrow boat in Birmingham, it was lovely to take in the rural surrounding of the canal and all it offers at Skipton. Absolutely fabulous as they say!!

The canal largely runs alongside a train line, making it a great option for a one way walk that allows you to get a train back again!

We were part of a group who had hired the full boat. Part of the price included a cream tea. A very pleasant time to sail along the canal

A 3 day barge break was great to see this stunning Yorkshire countryside. Athena canal holidays provided a 50 foot barge and my son and I spent the father's day weekend cruising from Athena's base to Skipton and return. Great experience for all.

A lovely place to cruise and see the countryside. Our cruise was accompanied by a comical commentary.

Along with two friends, my wife and I took a wide-beam boat from Silsden and went west as far as Foulridge. We didn't go through the mile-long tunnel there as it is reputed to be very wet and we would have had to turn and...More
