We were fortunate to visit the museum during the exposition of the Nahmad Collection; such a beautiful Impressionist Collection. The museum is very welcoming in its size, its collection(s), its furnishing, its staff and any other way. Absolutely worth a visit!!

This is a nice gallery in Le Cannet, a welcome relief from the film festival fever in Cannes. Lovely notebooks from Bonnard.

Bonnard lived in Cannes several times throughout his long life hence the museum.
The museum is 4 or 5 small floors of his works. Much of it seems to be his sketches and notebooks as I suspect a lot of the bigger more popular pieces have made it to galleries with deeper pockets but it’s a lovely experience anyway. It finishes with a 30 minute film in French on him and his work. Could do with English or other subtitles or audio as it is the most substantive part of the tour. The whole tour is very quick so would can do it leisurely in 30 mins.
Easy bus journey from Cannes on the number 1 for €1.50
Worth a visit!

Pleasant and nice small museum in the house of the Nabi painter. The collection is not only of master pieces but sufficient to be worth the visit!!!
The only drawback the video in French only , too long and pompous!!! What a pity...

I visited the museum in July 2018 and it was not remotely busy, which was surprising, as it had a very good and rewarding exhibition on, including the large painting of Marthe bathing. Plus a number of other works which I really enjoyed seeing. I wonder which Bonnard paintings make up the main collection? I think they should maybe have a fair number of the permanent collection on display as one might feel a little disappointed..i.e not see quite enough of his work?
However, on my visit I was very happy..it was wonderful to be in Le Cannet, where Bonnard lived and worked and it really is a wonderful museum...which I think will thrive with enough support.

This summer’s Inspirantes, Inspiratrices exhibition was a little gem with well curated works from most of Bonnard’s contemporaries including the ubiquitous Picasso.

The Bonnard's that are housed in the Musee Bonnard are delightful, full of his usual warmth and gentleness, and the museum has some charming Vuillards, Denis, Matisses, Signacs and so on. but I do wish there were a few more of their main artist. I felt somewhat cheated, as the museum is such a fine space, but still, a few good Bonnards are better than none! The staff were amiable and street parking was not a problem (there is also a public car park nearby). Even in the heart of the summer season, there were very few tourists who had ventured away from the seaside or the attractions of Nice and Cannes to find this haven of Fin de Siecle art.

I had a marvelous afternoon here. Exactly what you need after morning on a beach and water-sports. Very nice exhibition about lady’s, who inspired various impressionist artists. Being a big fan of this movement in art I did enjoy the visit to Musée Bonnard very much. The small exhibition of couple of dozen paintings hosts masters like Toulouse-Lautrec, Matisse, Picasso, Pierre Bonnard, Chagall, Vuillard... so hurry up: the collection is to see until November 4th.

I knew very little of Bonnard before I went, but it is worth taking the slight detour out of Cannes- buses run from the centre every 10 minutes. So much better than the crowded touristy galleries in Nice/Antibes, probably as you do have to make a decision to actually travel there, you're not battling with the selfie sticks to even look at a painting and the other visitors have a genuine interest! The gift shop has some excellent books on Bonnard (but is horrifically expensive!). No cafe, but plenty of places for coffee across the street. Also walk up the little hill behind the gallery to Rue de St Saveur- a lovely old street full of independent galleries and restaurants.
