lovely place lots of steps. nice cafe a little way up the path. we walked so far up the steps then walked up the path. Then we crossed over one of the bridges at the top and walked down the other side.

Very interesting lock system and amazing feat of engineering designed by Thomas Telford. Part of the Caledonian Canal, it links Fort William to Inverness and gives access to ocean-going ships. A fascinating piece of history.

Neptune’s staircase is good to see in person but you get a much better view from ariel drone shots online.

The locks offer spectacular views and the opportunity for some artistic photos. Walking up stream the footpath is wheel chair friendly but at times a little steep. The car park is pretty badly potholed and needs a little bit of work

I was hiking, and really enjoyed my stop here. I had actually never seen how a lock system worked, and found it fascinating.

We took the car to Neptune’s Staircase at Banavie, a set of eight lochs that form part of the Caledonian Canal. It was quite a sight, and we were lucky enough to have arrived there just before the morning Jacobite steam train went through Banavie...More

Lovely bit of the country I cycled by this doing the great glens. Very clean and tidy as it's a tourist attraction

Even on a cool and rainy day this is worth a visit. These locks were built in the early 1800's "the Caledonian Canal" - a system of locks enabling boats and small ships to go from the Atlantic Ocean to the North Sea. Quite interesting...More

I'm not sure but it is easy to find. If you are heading east from Fort William it is the first turn right after the bridge over the lochs, then on your right about 200 meters up the road.

There is a car park at the bottom lock that will hold loads of cars. Don't worry there are lots of places very close by.

I don't know if the town is on a regularly scheduled coach line. It would seem large enough to be on one, but I simply am guessing. I would check with some coach lines and find out from them. Good luck.
