this temple is more like a real monastery and less like a tourist spot. Not much explanations are offered in English but you get to see the monk's life

A good half hour out of Ulan Ude - worth the visit though. Incongruous after the wooden houses and fairly colourless suburbs, the Datsan is very bright indeed. It is well organised, with clear guidelines about what to do / not to do. Friendly monks...More

This place seems to lack the authenticity of other Buddhist temples I have been to. The coolest part is all the dogs that live there.

Center of Russian Buddhist. Interesting & Peaceful place. It's only 30 km from Ulan Ude. If you don't have time you can get taxi to there. Cost is around 1700 Rubl.

As far as I can remember, NO, they do not have overnight accomodations for visitors. Underneath all of the tourist activity, I have the impression that this is a very real, for serious, monastery.
