Lascaux IV could have been a great visit but lack of information, not providing explanations in languages other than Frech or English (poor summary of the regular explanation from the audio guide) and an unfriendly behaviour of the guide turned our visit to a nightmare....More

This was the highlight of my whole week. Seeing individual works of art is not the same as walking into a room and being surrounded by cave art, just like people were thousands of years ago. Excellent use of technology later in the tour that...More

Very sceptical until we got there! A copy yes - an amazing experience nevertheless yes. Good guide - plus self guiding tablet that we wished we were 16 years old to be able to use fuller. Fascinating place and a very well done vksitor experience....More

While one cannot go into the original Lascaux cave, this reproduction is so realistic that one forgets that it is a reproduction. The artistic ability of these early painters is breathtaking. Not only were they good artists, but they used the cave surfaces to their...More

Do not miss this - it was a great complement to our previous day’s hike around Les Eyzies sur Tuyac - where we learned about the land as it was some 20,000 years ago - when human population was sparse and climate resembled Lapland. The...More

We visited the Dordogne with the purpose of seeing the prehistoric caves and enjoying the wines. Our morning spent here at Lascaux 4 was perfect. The reconstruction of the original Lascaux caves which are limited to research and preservation is amazing. The accompanying exhibits enhance...More

Having spent the week visiting cave sites in the Dordogne area, we were excited to see one more before we traveled on to Spain. Unfortuantely, we didn't save the best for last as planned. Lascaux IV is truly an amazing reproduction, but the messaging, including...More

Thank you for your review. The guide adapts his speech to his audience. Maybe there were a lot of kids in your group.

There is only one tour a day with an english speaking guide. The tablet can be setup in english but it does’nt translate the speaking of the guide. It serves another purpose: To inform you further in the room for self-exploring. Unfortunally the guide did’nt...More

You have to take the tour and note, you don’t actually see the original art or cave, it’s a man made one matching exactly the original. Well worth the visit though.
